I've never even glanced at foil-related crafting, but naturally I now have a project that would really benefit from it. I was so lost trying to get a comprehensive idea of the craft and also find a method that was doable for me. The tracing paper is a lifesaver! I was so worried I was either going to have to freehand it or drop 300 USD on a custom machine I'd only use once 😂

I was wondering if I could use a heat press, like the ones used for garment printing, for hot foil stamping. I would like to set up a shop but don't have funds to spend on a dedicated foil stamping machine just yet.

David, can you use letterpress furniture to fill out the chase or do you need hot foil specific chase furniture when using and foiling with brass or Mazak type? Do you know a UK supplier? Many thanks for all your educational videos

Hi David at 4:36 in the video when discussing the letterhead did you use gold foil at the same time as the male and female embossing plates to achieve that effect? Or did you use gold foil with a normal plate first and then go over it afterwards with the male and female embossing plates?

I am interested in hot foil stamping. I've been looking at different machines and also looking for older antique embossing does. Like anything Pre 1925. But I can't find any on the internet.. like they don't exist. Anyone know where I might find such a thing? Thx

Thank you! I would like to create my own dies for hot foil stamping. I use laser engravers often. Can we use rubber/silicone as dies for hot foil stamping?? Can't find the answer to that anywhere please someone answer! Thank you!

Hi David, what is the cutting die made from? Where would I find someone who could make them (in UK)? Would it only cut card or could you cut thicker book board with it? Thanks for uploading this video 👍

Hi, thanks for the message a cutting die is made from normally a hardened steel that is sharp at the top for the cutting and this is embedded into normally a wooden or composite wood block and then surrounded by foam. There are a number of companies in the UK making these if you give me a call I’m happy to give you the names of a couple of companies that you could use. With regards to cutting thicker book board it depends how thick the board is, but I would say up to approximately a 540 Graham, or maybe even 700 g would be suitable anything above that I think he would struggle using a hot foil Machine I hope that helps. Im trying to do some toner printing with holo foils...but 24 hours after i laminate them... i see some of the holo foil starts to develop black spots... a solid gold or silver foil doesnt do this but a holo foil does... any idea what could be happening?
