Since this is a travel promotion for Japan: It looks nice, for a certain type of clientele. My opinions on this advertisement are: I am a person who is very tall and broad. The thought of sleeping in that restrictive shelf is not so appealing. I would wake up with cramps. Something else that came to mind was that the sleeping pod would be difficult to sanitize, with the tight space, lots of nooks and crannies, with all the buttons and vents. It also did not look like the "Door" was very secure. Human nature is always suspect, regardless of culture. It is odd that the cellphone safe was more secure than the pod door. The storage compacity for the guests' items is next to nothing. This is another signal to me that this place is not for a person traveling from out of country. If I am traveling from afar, I am going to have quite a bit with me that I brought, and that I will take with me from my travels. Not convenient at all. Yes, it looks clean, modern and quiet, but there are too many communal spaces for me to truly think that it is clean. No matter the ethnicity, humans are nasty creatures. We harbor disease and have body filth. During full compacity, it would be very difficult to keep all of it clean with the constant turn around. The lack of privacy and close proximity in general would wreck a person's mental health. Too much movement and noise. Nowhere to really go when you are overwhelmed. The style is very simplistic and not interesting to look at. Free food is generous, but free food usually is not very good quality and businesses are not going to make a profit handing out valuable things. Too much processed food and carbs were presented. Not enough leafy greens and protein. No fresh citrus. Cheap alcohol. I know: ITS FREE. But why advertise it as a special perk when it was mostly low-quality junk? There is an abundance of fresh seafood on the island of Japan, and they serve fried chicken on white bread? The food would not motivate me to stay there. Is it convenient not to carry personal care items? Yes, but I have what is appropriate for me and what is free may not be the best for my body or skin. Once again, something that is free is usually not of superior quality. There is soap in MOST public bathrooms in developed countries. Why is this a perk? Also, so much single use items (razors, cotton swabs, paper cups, paper towels, plastic forks, chopsticks etc.) are not beneficial for the environment. The bathing and grooming areas were also too communal for me. You are literally taking a bath in a public restroom and working on the honors system. As for the city: The streets are so narrow, the buildings tall and it seems that everything in Japan is crowded and small. I would feel claustrophobic, as I am larger than the typical person in Japan apparently. Too much concrete and not enough grass. The people are polite, but I get a sense of stoicism and would feel isolated/herded like cattle in a crowd very quickly. I saw no children playing, no smiles, no warmth. Heard no music. It may seem peaceful to many, but the video came off to me as cold, empty and isolated. Seems like everyone lives in their own heads, their own worlds. I would not be persuaded to travel here or stay at this pod hotel. It seems to be geared more toward the Japanese homeless who have fallen on hard times and need living accommodations, yet still have an income or are in the country for very short stay business travel. I believe my age may also be a factor, because younger people would not be bothered by the lack of privacy and space. My culture may be a large factor, as I have observed that Japanese are very reserved people that tend to isolate themselves in a crowd. No individuality. There is also great pressure to conform there, a sense of virtue in being needless and inconspicuous. Things become boring quickly. This feels very odd to me, and it is not something I seek out (as I travel for pleasure and work) but to each their own. Thank you for your video. The time and effort put in are appreciated.

But why don’t they give you slippers and take your shoes away 🥲 I’d hate to be walking around barefoot or with socks only

America is a dirty uncivilized country. Getting closer and closer to Middle East. Meanwhile people in Japan don’t take shit inside buses and piss graffiti their streets.

Any kind of trouble, attacks, etc., are rare in capsule hotels. There are many cameras in common areas so you'll be recorded somewhere. Genders are separated by floor. Most are incredibly clean and orderly. I think there aren't any doors and locks cause if there were, it'd be designated as a hotel with higher taxes and more regulations. Consequently becoming more expensive. I've stayed in a few and you quickly realize nobody wants anything to do with you. Generally people aren't there to socialize and mind their own business. Everybody just wants to eat and crash. They've been a godsend sometimes.
