I’ve been welding since 1988 school and training. I had at one time owned a welding business. Making 65per hr. After ALL expenses making 13-15. So I worked for other businesses. The best/ most I’ve ever made, was $25.50. So it all depends on experience and a market, also where. Where I’m at. It’s flooded with illegals. Which drives the market prices down!!! I’ve experienced this too be very true personally!!!!!

I’m really beginning to appreciate Everlast machines. They all have the bells and whistles and the best prices on the market for machines that are really beginning to get on the same level as Lincoln and Miller. For the longest time, with Miller and Lincoln, it’s the name you’re paying for. We got some new Millers at work in the last 12 months, and we are already having issues. They’re not on the same level as our XMT’s, as we only use these ones for mig jobs, but they were still 8+ grand a piece. Really not much difference than the one in this video to the ones we just bought. Except for the price! We also just recently bought a Lincoln Aspect 375, and I personally would put that on a similar level to the Everlast power Tig 325EXT. They both have pretty much all the same features. Probably won’t be long before they start matching the prices too

I was passing my old job and saw my ex boss so had a chat with him. He said fabricator/welders are on £11.50 an hour. Minimum wage has gone up a lot in last few years and is now £11.44. I get £25k a year for working part time(15-25 hours) doing maintenance at a care home and theyre getting me a works vehicle. Welding isn't valued as much in uk

In the uk if all the welders were on different wages there'd b a riot. The best welder only gets same as worst fabricator. Maybe "welder" means something different in America. Its what they teach prisoners over here and is considered lowest skilled job.

Popping issue solved thanks to you, but I’m now concerned with why my welds have excessive brown soot or haze. What causes the brown/tan soot around MIG welds. I’m using C25 and have tried everything from 15 to 45 cfh but it doesn’t seem to make much difference. I have heard it can be related to voltage, ARC temperature and Nitrogen from atmospher. Curiously, I have seen videos of people welding with C100 that have less Haze, and you would think since co2 is a reactive gas, it would leave more soot than argon mixes. I try to keep a stick out of around 3/8” and proper gun angles, and convention or instinct tells me it’s related to poor cover gas coverage, but like I said I have tried to average 20 to 25 cfh and any more doesn’t seem to help and just wastes gas. There is very little mention of this MIG phenomenon on the web or videos. Hopefully you can shed some light on this issue. Thank You

I just call it wire-feed. "Wire-feed with CO2" or "Gasless wire-feed with flux core" if anyone really wants to know. In any case, it's pretty obvious all of these processes require a wire to o be fed out of the gun. "MIG" is often misleading, most welders are using some sort of CO2 or CO2 mix, which is not an inert gas; try putting CO2 into a TIG torch and you're going to have some ruined tungsten. 😂
@charlessandoval37659 сағат бұрын
No just call it mig that’s the process that it is and will always be
@charlessandoval37659 сағат бұрын
What about when it’s flux core then no gas is being used anyway still mig wire coming out of a Mig gun no ?

I'm not sure where she gets her info from, but not every city has a makerspace, and I know for a fact there are several makerspaces that are at minimum 20 miles away from several city centers. Most people would be better off going to a local community college and talk to the department director and see if you can set something up with the college. Cities like Jacksonville, Orlando, Danville Illinois, Albany Georgia, and nearly 900 other major and mid level cities don't have makerspaces. This number doesn’t even include townships of less 50k people

It’s not just what people want to call it. MIG stands for Metal Inert Gas. Only inert gases or gas mixtures are used for the shielding gas when MIG welding. Typical inert gases used for MIG welding are argon and helium. These gases are usually used for MIG welding of aluminium and other non-ferrous metals. MAG stands for Metal Active Gas. Active gas mixtures have been developed primarily for welding steels. Typical shielding gases are mixtures of argon, carbon dioxide and oxygen e.g. CO2 , Ar + 2 to 5% O2 , Ar + 5 to 25% CO2 and Ar + 10% CO2 + 5% O 2 . The composition of the shielding gas has a substantial effect on the stability of the arc, metal transfer and the amount of spatter. The shielding gas also affects the behaviour of the weld pool, particularly its penetration and the mechanical properties of the welded joint. In the US, both MIG and MAG welding are described by the term GMAW ( Gas Metal Arc Welding).
