very thought provoking. I live in Australia where HIV is mainly an issue for gay men and intravenous drug users. But the issues of male/female equality and sexual activity are major. I am a White man, but I try to follow a culture that is universal. That is true Christianity. The oppression of women in anathema to true Christians, or anyone who claims to follow the holy scriptures ( Muslims and Jews), Almighty God, whose name is Jehovah, is described of having qualities, but IS love. He is a God of order so things are done in an organized way. For example he made Jesus Christ the head of the Christian congregation, and men Head of their household. These headships are meant to be truly loving and not oppressive. The man is instructed to Love his wife as he does his own body. The scriptures' also say that sex is only appropriate within the marriage arrangement . It is something wholesome that increases intimacy, shows love and sometimes produces children. I agree that men and women are equal. The long oppression of women in many cultures is a disgrace often hidden in religious/cultural dogma that is not informed by the holly scriptures or by the meaning behind cultural ideas. The sexualization of the young is a very real problem in western culture. The patriarchy and sexualization cause women and girls to be scared and fearful of men. Not what God wants. Both boys and girls need to be educated in the appropriate ways to behave and how to treat, interreact, and respect one another. God created humans naked and unashamed, but unfortunately nudity and sex have become entwined and misunderstood. If we were really taught the best way to interreact with each other than what you choose to wear or not wear would be culturally and climatically appropriate whether skins, garments or nothing. I hate how young girls are dressed up as mature women. I hope this is informative and not just a rant. If you want to communicate more I am open to that.
