Hi, what's the maximum distance the receiver and laser can talk / self-align each other? As in can I put the laser on a strainer post and the receiver 300m away and wait for the laser to find it? cheers
@RedBackLasers15 ай бұрын
The laser can track to the receiver at a distance of around 50m and can pick up the laser over 300m. For more information on the fencing application best to call the office on 1800 769 858.

So how do we check the check the laser/lights on the sides? I don’t think this method works for those.
@RedBackLasers16 ай бұрын
Assuming the lasers geometry was originally set up correctly and assuming that it hasnt suffered a major drop, If the horizontal is good on both axis then the verticals and plumb should also be good. To check vertical lines you can set up a plumb bob line and check against that. Alternatively if you have a 360 style laser you can check the verticals against each other for consistancy. Hope this helps.

Looks like a pain in the ass this why not just use a theodilite
@RedBackLasers17 ай бұрын
Certainly can use a Theodolite but that will be a two-person operation. The RedBack laser and Fencing kit is a single-person job and you also get a standard rotating grade laser level for other jobs you may have.

Toolmart are our stockist, they only keep a small fraction of our range but can always order in. Alternatively you can order direct off the website, regular freight is free. Express freight is an option, cost depends on the item required.

How do we contact you from the USA. I checked your website, but there is an error when I fill out the contact sheet.
I got 1, only thing I wonder how long the rechargeable batter will last (years?), and how long can it hold charge? The older non lazer ones had removable batteries.
@AzTurboMini Жыл бұрын
I've had mine for a year and I'm sure as you've found out it it won't lose charge when not in use and hold a good charge when in use. These lithium ion batteries should last 5 years of light homeowner use as long as you don't leave it fully discharged for a long period of time. I use mine for all things homeowner plus I sharpen knifes with a fixed angle sharpener 3-4 times per week and put it through it's paces 3-4v hours a day, sometimes longer finding and keeping sharpening degrees consistent.

This is a solid bit of kit when it arrived. It is very well built. However I didn't have too much success. My friend and I bought two of these auto tracking bases and here is my feedback when using my Uni laser LS900BX Green beam with the "D" mode selected on this base (we tested 2x Auto tracking bases). I believe my "D" mode (detector) is the same as "P" (Pulsing), just depends which laser you have. Electronic Base: - Under 10m. The receiver in Auto tracking mode will work and picks it up nearly every time. There were times where it didn't but vary rare at that close range distance. - Over 10m. Complete different story. In Auto tracking the receiver couldn't pick up the line laser nearly 95% of the time, it just kept on spinning and then switch off Auto tracking mode. Laser it self was levelled as it is electronic auto levelling. Im not sure if maybe its my laser model which doesn't like the receiver however it was working under 10m so..... Receiver: - Under 6m. Using the receiver for incremental left and right changes works no problem but you need to point the remote in the general direction of the base - Between 10-20m. The remote need to be pointed exactly in the right spot at the right angle for the base station to pick up the receiver, otherwise it won't pick it up. Very annoying and a lot of the time you cant always get the right angle. I think once these two issues are addressed this piece of kit would be a game changer!
@RedBackLasers12 жыл бұрын
Hi Ash. The range of the auto track base is very much dependent on the laser you are using. We find when using a class3 green beam (German Osram Diode) such as the RedBack XLG44 it will pick up pretty reliably up to about 15m. With a cheap class 2 red beam its about 6m, a better quality class2 redbeam up to about 10m and a class3 red beam such as the RedBack 3L360R over 20m. These auto track bases communicate with the receiver via infra red (like your tv remote) so you need good line of sight often having the laser and base on a tripod raised a little of the ground helps. Another hint is if you have 4 vertical lines, turn them all on, this increases the chances of being detected sooner. We would tend to use them ourselves at about the 10m distance with most lasers, as its long enough to get an accurate alignment. Once locked on you can pick up the receiver and detect the laser way beyond the 10m mark. A cheaper red beam will pick up at about 20m and higher powered red and green up to 40m with the auto track receiver. I hope this helps.

Can the laser be used outside without the receiver for line levels . Thank you

it doesnt go down to a dot when toggling.
@RedBackLasers18 жыл бұрын
Well spotted, that was an error it actually goes to a very small arc providing a bright 400mm line at 5m from the laser level. If you want to produce a level dot place the laser on its side and the dot at 90 degrees to the rotating beam can be shifted left or right using the remote control slope/man direction buttons.
@designscapesltd46908 жыл бұрын
+RedBackLasers i thought mine was broken when you said goes down to a dot. i even went out to truck and got it and had a play. When you say "pick up a right angle off the top of the laser" how are you picking that up? visually? i can see it when using outside.

@RedBackLasers18 жыл бұрын
All lasers are difficult to visibly see outside over any real distance, but a dot laser in conjunction with a target and laser enhancement glasses will give best results but don't expect more than about 15m in full sun conditions. The duller it is the further you can see the dot. The following link has an image of a laser (different model but principles are the same) on its side with a target picking up the dot and then using the receiver to pick up the rotating beam (now vertical rotation) at right angles to the dot. The receiver will pick up the rotating beam up to 250 to 300m radious from the laser. www.redbacklasers.com.au/images/arl509square.jpg
