As "shag" deep pile carpeting first entered home decor in the 1970s, 1950s homes and bedrooms were overfloored with broadloom carpet that extended wall to wall, or with large to smaller area oriental rugs.

Acrylic tumblers and trays look great when new ... until in time they grow cloudy and can crack as the plastic oxidizes.

Another signature 1970s perfume and bath powder was a revival of 1953s Estee Lauder Youth Dew, its haute coutour spokesmodel Karen Johnson, marketed at Lord & Taylor.

Anyone remember Vitabath? Made in Germany, green gel, very herbal? It was high end, my rich friend's mom got it at Marshall Field.

I have the sea horse and peacock perfume decanters❤ I loved sweet honesty and wore that a lot! I think they started vitamin c for your skin and retinols. I had the ice cream lip gloss and used skin so soft all the time!

I just got my order of Satura original, Laura, I love in! Certain Satura is a shortened name for "Saturate" bc my skin feels so moisturized! I really like the texture and the color and the scent.

One has to remember Christina wrote the book after her mother had passed away, so Joan was unable to comment. That says volumes on what a hateful person Christina is.

Does anyone remember Yardley Pot O Gloss? I had the lip pots & eye pots. The lip pots smelled amazing! Late 60's early 70's maybe? Loved it.

I clean for a woman that has the staple 90s bathroom complete with a pink tub, toilet and sink. The towels were a funky colorful 90s pattern. She refuses to update it lol.

I collect adverts from many decades! Oh my the prices for the fragrances around the fifteen and a half min mark! They have quadrupled since then!! I sell fragrances and we still carry Youth Dew! It smells very very dated and intense! Yet I imagine it was innovative at the time! Great videos! I lived in the US most of my life but now live in the UK. Its interesting to see what brands are still around here and what is available vs the US. New sub! Love your content!

Dear Laura, I have been a huge fan of your channel since 2020. Please don't take it personally, but please change the lighting setup. Maybe it's just me but I think when you adjust it in a different position it would look way better.

The bathrooms were so colorful; we had a pink one and a green one, including all the porcelain, and my parents later bought a house with a blue bathroom, which was just modernized this month! I also remember Jean Nate was popular, with a lemon scent, and the still-sold Lip Smackers in flavors like chocolate mint or Coca-Cola. The 10-0-6 toner was really strong, but it had a great smell!

At first in the 80s the economy was down but by the mid it was booming because of president ronnie reagen …I mean booming from 82-lasting 15 years referred to economists as the long boom…it’s considered the greatest economic boom in history… president Reagan was one of our greatest presidents.. he helped to make so much happen with the Berlin wall falling.. and so much more

I remember my Daddy wearing Hai Karate aftershave and watching those crazy commercials where the guys wearing it had to karate chop the sexy women off of them. AND all the girls in my junior high wore Tickle deodorant, Maybelline Kissing Potions, Village Lip Balm in the metal slide containers. Then I loved to smell Coty's Sweet Earth Solid Perfume Compacts, because to me, they were the BEST!! Finally, Avon's Small World pink heart soaps smelled so clean and fresh and we all loved their Sweet Honesty cologne. Thanks for the visit to Memory Lane! 🌹💖🌹

😂 This is a crock of shit. Elvis died of a heart attack, brought on because his colon was impacted with a load hard feces caused by the opiates he was taking. His diet wasn’t good for him but it wasn’t what killed his.

Avon also used to have really pretty costume jewelry. My mother had a cameo with a gold filigree border thar opened like a locket and had solid perfume inside, and I've got pretty rings and earrings that I wear all the time from them.

My first house in the early nineties had an avocado bathroom suite I loved it! I live in the UK and remember those hairdryers in fact I had a battery operated toy hairdryer! Also in the early eighties I was given 1970s heated rollers and used them right into the 1990s! We had a carpet in the bathroom in the 1980s but we had cork which was all the rage in the 1970s. My mother used Olay and Ponds cream. I used clearsil 70s and 80s. Vosene shampoo was popular in the UK at this time. My mother didn’t really use makeup as she looked great without it but nights out I remember she still used block mascara and a brush, spitting in the block to soften it before applying to the lashes! 🤢🤣 We had a yellow bathroom suite with white and yellow tiles, a cork flooring and white daisy wallpaper on a chocolate brown background! Oh and a yellow Venetian blind.
