I’m in South Carolina, and our July was the highest temps ever. Then Debby payed us a visit - TWICE! My backyard is like a marsh. Luckily, my garden is in raised beds. We are supposed to get more rain this week. I’ll amend my beds when it stops raining and plant a fall garden for the first time!

Oh no, sorry to hear your back yard / garden have been rained out. 😞 I'd never considered the advantage of raised bed gardens in a high-water situation, that is a great point ! It's wonderful that you will be able to bounce back quicker. Hopefully in time for a very bountiful fall / ealy winter harvest season! 🙏🤞

Yay for the fall garden!! I started some new plants as well. I’m learning we can plant in spring but come July a lot does so I need to replant at the end of July. It’s just so hot. Yes condiments take up a lot of room! I hope your weather isn’t too bad! Love the bits and bites bin! You do a great job using stuff up!

We have very few condiments as 1. they’re just getting outrageously priced and 2. we have cut way back on bottled condiments over last decade or more. No dressing, sauces, mayo - we make them all n use up like any other leftover. I do ferment the mayo so it lasts but we only have 1 dressing, homemade. I buy tamari, mustard & redhot, and vinegar sits in cupboard. I could make redhot or mustard tho if needed as I have cayenne and mustard seeds. Ketchup we just don’t use except for so rarely. Same for worcestershire, even less for A1. We just do w/o. We do however keep nutbutter in fridge as it’s almond butter, no sugar. Plus ONE jam, we rotate flavors so everyone’s fav comes up in the rotation n none spoil. I can’t stand waste nor can we ever afford it in my whole life so I’ve always raised kids to be not picky.

That sounds like the best approach to condiments, thanks for the inspo! Food waste is sad all the way around, especially when on a tight budget. You are so right about the condiments we keep on hand for 'just in case' like Worcter and A1. I decided to pitch a ton of that stuff because I'm just shuffling it around, and never use it. Love the idea of rotating jam flavors so everyone gets their turn at a favorite!

The clearance racks have been very sad! I had an older lady tell me the other day nothing is worth it anymore… we were both standing at the clearance rack just disgusted. You got some good deals! I love your hauls!

Oh my gosh!!! Everything looks amazing!!! But I’m pretty sure those side shoots on the corn are suckers and you should remove them so the main plant can produce to the fullest. But hey!! You’re growing corn!! That’s incredible!! Hopefully there is a full video coming out?? 😂

Hey Mandie, thanks for the tip about removing shoots! Sadly, I posted this short about a month ago, and then my garden went downhill in a hurry due to mid-90s nonstop and a lot of bug pressure. :( I just pulled all but two tomato plants,. and all of the rest of it pretty much. Starting over seems to be getting said on a lot of gardening segments here on YT right now. And those poor people in TX, all the flooding, etc. I'm praying we can all have fall gardens that pay us back double for our trouble!

I always try to think of meat as flavoring rather than the main course. You can get a lot of meals out of small amounts of meat.

That is so true. I'm trying to get around 100g of protein per day, but it's amazing how fast it can add up in a dish if you look at the nutrition of all the ingredients. Pasta has a surprising amount of protein, along with nuts, cheese, etc.

I love those smokehouse almonds! So good!! It’s so warm here that Asian slaw sounds so good! You lost me at blue cheese… but I love bbq chicken pizza! Love the idea of roasting the veg before adding it to the pizza too! You made some yummy meals for cheap!!

This was a great video my friend and very motivational. Tackling our closes may be the hardest yet because it's so personal...things we picked out for ourselves to wear. Some of those tops you pulled out looks like some of mine. I was like, "I have that! I have that too!"😂 I know I usually only film in my tshirts but I have a lot of those flowy, flower blouses and shirts with poofy sleeves too. ❤

This was a great video sweet friend. Here in Texas, we have dealt with most emergency situations just in the month of May. The storms, flooding, tornados and frequent power outages have put my community in situations where pharmacies, grocery stores, gas stations and banks were inoperable. Now we are expecting a very hot summer (strain on power grid) and a very active hurricane season. We must be prepared for everything and anything.
