The first one. I'm amazed how many wealthy people are in the world, could easily pay that and fix it up. Most of that is pocket change and write offs correct?

Why does the Amity house look different in every shot? The classic arched windows on the second floor go from regular squared openings to a single centered window. WTF?

I was thinking of turning my garage into a spaceship factory to build a ship to launch to Mars and charge people for tours. Then I remembered I have absolutely no knowledge on how to build rockets and besides, I don't even have a garage.

You can learn rocket science, but where would ever find a garage to start out in?

This is B.S. because in most cities, home garages are zoned as residential and it isn't legal to operate a business from them. Even if you could, these ideas are crazy. "Hey, why not sell drugs or run a brothel out of your garage? Make thousands a day!" "Why not do brain surgery from your garage? You probably already own a Dremel." True story: Once had a business in Los Angeles doing car stereo and we had a detached cement floor garage with a bay door and nothing else inside. The city came in one day and said we couldn't work on cars in the garage because it was zoned as an office. We would have to pay thousands of dollars to have an architect make blueprints and have the garage rezoned as a garage. Only in stupid California.

That's pretty USA specific. In the UK it's fine for the most part, even if you're renting the place.

Where can you find haunted homes for sale, I mean they actually come out and say it's haunted or it just LOOKS haunted?
@lada3264

Maybe you could find actual mansions that are for sale without all this sensationalism, but I guess ya gotta make it fun, pretty nice if I’m looking for something that’s haunted or impossible to live in

The #1 potential catch that everyone seems to forget about, like with many other luxury item, is: how much will it cost you *every single subsequent year* to maintain?
@Walkercolt1

$1000 for the house and $1,500,000 BACK PROPERTY TAXES!!! The back TAXES are what these guys don't TELL you about! Not to mention HOA fees and repairs (a vacant house deteriorates faster than you can imagine-some friends from my church lived in a house SIX YEARS being PAID by a bank to prevent it from being broken into and having the wiring and plumbing stripped out, etc. They weren't paid MUCH, but they had no rent, utilities, but phone and cable, and the "Holding Co." of the bank even took care of the lawn and shrubs.) Bank gradually remodeled the exterior and interior on the nearly $3 million dollar house (location rather than grandeur) and when the market came back, it sold FAST. My best friend is the retired VP Loan Officer of the largest bank in the SW US. Richard calls these ten mansions "dead properties". Except there are HUNDREDS (thousands???) of "dead properties" in TX, MO, OK, KS, NM, AR, AZ, alone. Many have structural issues and it would cost more than they are worth to repair them PROPERLY. Some have zoning issues (too big for where they are built or drainage problems onto neighbors properties). Legal problems about contractors not being paid, or mortgages being "written-off", mess with getting a clear title. I could do a TV show on "This House You Only THOUGHT You Bought After You Spent $180,000 on Fixing It Up!"

Impressive video. I started a bit late (graduated from my doctorate program at age 30 in 2016 with 170k in school loan debt). Managed to pay off my debt by 2019 and currently have a house and 250k total in investments (combo of profit share, 401k and a brokerage account). I'm not very knowledgeable in investing, so I just have my investing currently in index funds mainly voo, but have been putting a lot into schd the past few months. I dunno if that's the optimal strategy, but psychologically it is very set it and forget it, and prevents me from obsessing over individual stock performance.

Instead of using different brokerage accounts to purchase index funds or individual stock, compare your age(s) and how much time you have estimated till retirement, you can also opt to consulting/working with a fund manager/advisor for an “optimal strategy” to outperform the bear market.

This guy does not do a full investigation. I will let you know that the amityville house is no longer on the same spot because they moved it 2 or 3 lots down and the 2 windows that looks like fans was replaced with 2 regular windows so it doesn't look like the amityville house anymore.
