I love how you take the seriousness out of quilting. You make it less intimidating and show mistakes are made but you figure it out. I’m about to try my first panel quilt!

I need help, I don't understand how to use a paper piece, and how to square a quilt. I need to see it done. Not on you tube. I leave in a small town there's o groups

Complimenting others work and not being bitchy about work that’s not to your standard or liking is a huge thing, catty comments can crush someone and be enough to put them completely off quilting. We all had to learn and yes some people are better than others but if someone has put a lot of time and effort into a quilt that deserves to be celebrated.

April my KY neighbor you are SPOT ON by passing this along. I have not made that many quilts but I would be more than happy to teach someone to do EPP or help them learn to do FPP. I compliment everyone’s work no matter if it’s not my style or the blocks are wonky. I KNOW mine are not perfect. We all were new quilters at one time. I have a UFO that was last out of the storage popcorn can in 1995. Now that I know what I know I am scared to death to look at it. 🤣🤣 But DO NOT BE THE QUILT POLICE!!! That will chase a new quilter faster than anything!! XO ♥️💙🪡🧵

You are very creative but for me it is mostly confusion. I guess my brain just can’t absorb something that looks so haphazard. You have a plan in your head, you have nice fabrics and the experience to execute the plan. I applaud you!! Whatever happens in my brain makes thrift store shopping a punishment not a joy. In that type store I can’t see the forest for the trees! Most of the time I can’t wait to leave the store.

Hi Maxine! ❤ the quilt top, it's great!! I like the idea of a border...any of the 3 would work! OKAY!

April that happened to me. My niece brought me a kitten that she found outside her house. She already had 5 of her own. She asked me if I wanted her. So I agreed. Took her to the vet to get checked out. Make sure she was healthy then make a plan to get her spayed. Well to my surprise she was not a kitten but a young adult. And she was pregnant. She had 4 boys. So now I have 5 fur babies

I am looking for the link for the book.. I did not see it..I love making pillowcases. I have made pairs and then have reversed the cuff and body to change them up… French seams are the only way to go.

There are so.many layers that in order to keep them from slipping, I used to baste them. Now I "Elmer" them together with some Elmer's School Glue as I go. Hit with a little dry iron to dry the glue. Then sew through all the layers. Works like a charm.

Our Guild makes pillow cases for charity and I try to contribute several each year. I also have made cases for holidays for the Grands. Their mom has a hard time getting them to let her take them off for laundering. Lol I increased the seam width on mine because you need it to be sure you catch all the fabric. It's a pillow case so having it 1/4 inch shorter due to seam width won't hurt anything.

The guild I used to belong to made 100s of these pillow cases for charity. We had so much fun racing to turn them inside out!

I call my tool a "hump jumper," it makes a world of difference when mending or hemming jeans. This pillowcase is perfect for storing a quilt in progress as well as gifting one. I heard a horror story about a person who had a quilt done, the quilt was in a garbage bag and got put out with the trash.

I love this idea and the color scheme. My brain this of red, white and blue as one color, so if anyone asks my favorite color, I tell them "red, white and blue" :) It's a great way to use up some charm squares and whatever else. As I'm typing this, I think you need a border of white with some blue and red little accents of some sort. It would be perfect! Thanks so much for your tutorials!!!

Hearing you talk about the quilting police made me think of a funny story…. When I began quilting about 15 years ago I was invited to go to Quilt Congress. I had no idea what that was. Note about me if I don’t know what something is, I make up my own idea. I thought it was when all the guilds in the state got together and made up some rules for quilting. LOL actually in Arkansas all the guilds are invited to come together for a quilt show and and some teachers for a whole weekend, also lots of shopping! No quilt police exist! I was so happy! This quilt is wonderful! I thought maybe you were doing a tribute the the USA team!
@aprilscraftroom2 күн бұрын
I am glad there were no quilt police at the quilt show. And lots of shopping is always a good thing. That is a good idea to make it a tribute to the USA team of 2024.
