This is very helpful technique but one point to the video, if you use the yarn with more color on the first one instead of pale blue it would be more visible and easier to follow. Thanks for the tips.

Would this also work with a size hook which is smaller than 8 mm ? I can’t get on with large hook sizes. It’s a great pattern

If you feel comfortable altering patterns to be worked at a different gauge, then yes, it could be done with a smaller hook size. I hope this helps!

Thank you so much! I also want to know how I can make half of this triangle (ie. a 30,60,90 triangle) do you have any tips for that?
@YayForYarn
@YayForYarn 20 күн бұрын
If you wanted half of this same kind of triangle, you could start with half the number of stitches, and only decrease stitches along the one side. I hope this helps!

So is the center of the ring the tiny hole? How do you get it all to fit? I can’t seem to make it look like anything but a jumbled circle
@YayForYarn
@YayForYarn 20 күн бұрын
Yes, the center of the ring is the small hole in the center. If you are having trouble with your project as you follow my pattern, you can email me a photo at blogger{at}yayforyarn.com, and I will be happy to help troubleshoot.

I’m working on some Hanging Baskets for my daughter’s birthday. I completed one with the regular instructions and the ridge up the joining rows is SOOOO obvious. I’m planning on using your technique on the 2nd basket to have a seamless join. I’ve been crocheting for 50+ years and have never seen this - what a game changer!!!! Thank You Thank you ❤❤❤❤

I am confused by the XL size for the sleeves. I repeat row 2, 5 times (total 6) and then do rows 3 and 4, 6 more times (total 7) yet the sleeve is barely past my elbow :/
@YayForYarn
@YayForYarn 20 күн бұрын
When you repeat row 2, 5 more times after the first time you worked it, that adds a total of 6 rows. When you repeat Rows 3-4, you are repeating that pair of rows 6 more times. So the first time you work Rows 3-4, that adds two rows, and then you repeat those two rows 6 more times, which adds 12 more rows. If you find that you have the correct number of rows, but the sleeve is not long enough for you, you can go back to the part where you repeat Row 2, and do extra repeats of Row 2 to add length to the sleeve. Arm length can vary between wearers, and so can the fit of the sleeve. The sleeve may fit one person a little more loosely, and therefore the sleeve would hang longer as it would not be stretching width-wise. The same sleeve may be more close-fitting on someone else, and in that case, the sleeve would be stretching a bit more width-wise to fit. The width-wise stretch of crochet fabric can sometimes cause the fabric to shrink in length a bit. If the sleeve seems to be more close-fitting, adding a bit of length to the sleeve as I described above can help adjust the length. I hope this helps!

For English style there is no need of lifting you hand off the righthand needle that is maybe only used to teach someone but neither my Mom or teacher taught the lifting of your hand off the needle - by just moving your finger close to the stitches on the right hand needle you can get a very good speed - in our knitting there are a number of different methods and no one lift their hand in that manner - this video is very interesting - love it!!

Which of these hook designs do you like to use best? Which one feels the best in your hands? 😊
@YayForYarn
@YayForYarn 20 күн бұрын
I think they all feel fairly similar, because the overall shape is very similar. However, near the top of the handle, I tend to prefer the feel of the ones that are either smooth or have just a crease / indent in that area, rather than the bubble shaped portion such as on the top of the darker blue handle. Probably my favorites would be the brown, darker green, light blue, the pinkish-red one with the bubble shapes at the bottom of the handle, and the yellow one. They are all enjoyable to work with, but I especially like the ones that don't have quite as much texture or larger shapes in the area where I would be grasping the hook with my thumb and first few fingertips. I hope this helps!

Thank you so much for this video. I tried looking at other videos, but they did not turn the work upside down like you did so it looked like they were putting the needle into the side stitch of the work instead of the bottom. This video really helped me to master this technique. I was always coming up with the wrong number on my second row and I would have to start all over again. I think the first and second rows are the hardest because you have to make your stitches are even on the first row and it is easy to miss a stitch on the second row. Especially when you are using multicolored yarn. This solves that problem. Now I just have to count my stitches to make sure I have the correct number on both rows. and both rows will be uniform. This is great!!!

Are you referring to having multiple kinds of stitches in the same row, such as with a stitch pattern? Or are you referring to working a few rows of one stitch and then a few rows of a different stitch?

hi! I have a doubt...I want yarn that is not too stretchy so that my garments don't stretch when they worn on a daily basis. I need the yarn to be in such a way that the size of the cloth stays intact and dont expand... please suggest me the type of yarn I want! please!
@YayForYarn
@YayForYarn 20 күн бұрын
Hi. The stitch pattern that you are using, and the size of your stitches, will affect how much the fabric stretches just as much as the yarn you are using. I would suggest a strong, high-twist yarn, such as mercerized cotton. However, many stitch patterns will still produce a stretchy fabric, no matter what yarn you are using. So considering your stitch pattern and gauge would be more important than the yarn you are using. I hope this helps!

Can I make a sling bag from 100 gram of yarn? PLS anyone tell me
@YayForYarn
@YayForYarn 20 күн бұрын
That will depend on the type of sling bag, what size it is, and several other factors. I would suggest finding a pattern that you like, and seeing how much yarn it calls for. That would give you a better idea of how much yarn you'll need. Otherwise, the only way to find out is to try it and see if your yarn ends up being enough. I hope this helps!

Who on earth wears wool in the summer time? Thanks for the video.
@YayForYarn
@YayForYarn 20 күн бұрын
Wool in summer garments is not common, as most people think of wool as something to keep you warm. However, wool is a temperature-regulating fiber, so it can also be used in summer garments as long as a breathable, slightly more open stitch pattern is used, and the yarn is lightweight. This pattern, for instance, uses a lightweight, high twist / low fuzz superwash wool yarn: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gJajarp2nrHegYE.html There are also companies now starting to make merino wool t-shirts, because of wool's temperature-regulating properties. I hope this helps!
