😢 we just said goodbye to our plott yesterday. Watching this reminds me of her youthful days. She looked like one of yours.

What a beautiful flock. I will be starting mine this week... Glad to know that they are smart enough to learn to come with a whistle, as are my horses 😁

Why not just get a llama to go with the herd? Predation be nearly nonexistent :)

I was wondering how many warp threads per inch does it take when setting up to weave a saddle blanket? Also how heavy is the warp thread? I am a new weaver and would like to weave saddle blankets for my grand daughters. Any information would be greatly appreciated. I hope that it is appropriate to ask these questions. I have been looking on line and have not been able to find a written instruction. Thank you in advance for your help with these questions. Your work is beautiful by the way.

Y'know, as a person who has no moral opposition to eating meat whatsoever, I gotta say... that was a "dickheaded" statement, sir.

@Plottduke1: Um, learn some history? These are folks that know this breed and proudly maintain their "Von" Plott line of dogs. Pretty much everyone knows these dogs come from an original group that came over from Germany, so....take your own advice.

sounds like your neighbors need some song dog killers. give me a holler and pay for my gas to drive from montana and we'll come sort em out for ya ;) haha, but yeah, i bet the hounds do run the coyotes pretty good if they get the chance, so that prolly explains it

Interesting. But I know our scent marking has been highly effective. We can hear the packs travel at night and they definitely avoid our pastures. Neighbors on one side have lost over 50 sheep this year to coyotes. On the other side the neighbors lost 20. We just lost our first lamb a couple of weeks ago - it was in a pasture we don't have the dogs scent mark. Maybe it's because our dogs chase the coyotes too? More than one coyote in our area is missing some skin due to our hounds.

hate to tell ya, but coyotes come in to dog scent. im a huge coyote hunter, and we often times hunt over dogs, anything from hounds or labs to herding dogs. just have the dog walk around while your calling and the coyotes come in like bees to honey
