Reminds me of Harry Mason from Silent Hill. They're both writers, both look the same, both have a young daughter and a wife who dies from sickness. Also they both travel to an isolated town.

This half of the season was so damn good, right up to the last episode which was horrible. I was so mad cause I genuinely thought the rest of the season was fantastic, I loved the setting of the small beach town and the way the pills worked. It was all so interesting and intense and then it was just sloppily ended.

Not really, they aren’t undead or can turn into bats or anything. They take a drug that makes their creativity skyrocket and they can write or paint or anything amazingly well on it, but the side effect is a need for blood. If someone untalented takes it it turns them into a mindless monster basically. It definitely has a little bit of vampire lore thrown in but they aren’t vampires really.
