First of all no one is talking about an unopened deck. Walk into any casino and ask them how many cards they use in their decks, or into any college probability course, or just Google it and see what Wikipedia says 👌 intranet.missouriwestern.edu/cas/wp-content/uploads/sites/17/2020/05/Standard-Deck-of-Cards.pdf It seems I have offended you in some strange way

Gotta love the people who think they're smart for figuring out a trick you're offering a tutorial for. 🤦‍♂️ This is a pretty good performance, it's not bad at all. You seem a little nervous, but I may just be imagining that. 🤷‍♂️ Either way, it's a nice performance of a classic effect. ✌️

I've gotten adept enough at Mnemonica to allow the spec(s) to cut the cards as many times as they'd like after I do some false shuffles, that way it seems even more impossible. I use marked cards so it only matters that I see what card is on top. Of course, you have to do a bit of math but it's really simple: for example, let's say they cut to the 6H (position 23) and you ask them to name any number between 1 and 52. Let's say they say 17. You just add 23 and 17 then take away one (unless you're starting from the 4C), so it's 39. You can then tell them confidently that the 17th card is the AD. If it goes over 52, it just resets. For example, if you start at the 40th card (4S) and the spec picks, say, 31, you just take the sum, subtract 53, and it's 18, the KC.

I don't really see much card-handling limitation with Mnemonica, at least not for what I do. I'm a complete amateur and I use Mnemonica in conjunction with some false shuffles and cuts, plus I allow the specs to cut the cards as much as they like (I use marked cards so as long as I know the top card I'm good, no need for key cards). As long as the shuffles are convincing they'll be further convinced by the fact that they're allowed to cut the cards.

For how many cards are in a deck with Jokers, it depends on which company makes, and who design it. The USPC and the cheap Chinese decks come with 2, the European companies(like Cartamundi, Piatnik and etc.) usually does 3, some decks comes with 4(mostly the Bicycle branded anime themed decks), some have just 1 as RationallySkeptical said, there are decks which don't have Jokers(because those are replaced by special cards, called as ''Gaff cards''), but then there's 1 deck, called UNO Wild Twists, which have 8 Jokers in it(2 "Whites", 1 Red, 1 Black, and 1 for each suit).

Its simple math ... card location vs destination.. either add or subtract. If you're doing anything with numbers, you BETTER be good at simple math . Jeez , no multiplication, no division.. they say JH , they say 40 .. hello ?? From 20 to 40 -- YES ! Add 20 to the top . Next lesson: Trigonometry 101. 🎩
@ULearnMagic
@ULearnMagic 3 ай бұрын
First of all, that’s not trigonometry. Second, that’s an easier case situation for your first number. But even then you have another math problem and have to still figure out which card to cut to get that many cards on top of the deck. (And how to do that). People will see you thinking and you will hesitate and will know you are doing math, or it will just be an awkward performance. Trust me, I’ve performed this. I recommend go perform this first, hundreds of times, then comment back and see how it goes 😉 If it works for you then great!

@@ULearnMagic yeah , Bud, no need to get hostile - I'm 66 years old and been doing magic since you were in your diapers. worked for 3 magic stores , met the amazing Randi and learned magic from the late James Swoger .( house of enchantment) Sorry if you're not accustomed to the humorous reply I gave you , but seriously, you're video makes potential users of mnemonica shy away . it's really not that hard if you can do math . And anyone out there who wants to learn hard enough, hit me up and I'll teach you some memory techniques. Free. that's right. nada , zip zilch . Poof 💥 , I'm gone . 😎

@WaldoWizard Lol 66 years old, and you're acting like a child on the internet flaunting your boring life for no reason. Your first comment was not humorous at all, and if it was well, then buddy, you need to work on your comedic skills because boomer humor is not funny nowadays. It came off as snobby and condescending. Secondly, he's not shying away people. He's simply stating it requires lots of math and improvising methods on the spot. So get off your high horse old fart.

I always put every deck I use into mnemonica (possibly cut so 4c not necessarily on top) so any deck around the place is ready to go. Also good is if you are round someone’s place and they have a deck they use for games, put that into mnemonica, then next time you are round you can ask for a deck, and ask “is this shuffled?” while looking at it to check whether it’s still in mnemonica. So often it’ll have been just sitting, and still in order so you can go into some men deck work with a borrowed deck. (Obviously if it has been used and out of order just do something else.
