We all had that bad landing, from my experience flying gliders, keep flying the plane, if it bounce don't try to force it to the ground, keep flyt it dead, and you can save almost the worst situation!

After bouncing down the runway for 1500' the Cessna finally slowed down enough for a proper landing.

Is it not common training in the USA to retract flaps immediately once you land, to help glue the wheels down, why are they going down the runway (once landed) and still FULL FLAPS!!
@raoulcruz4404
@raoulcruz4404 10 ай бұрын
That’s not taught across the board. With retractable gear aircraft it’s usually taught to leave the flaps alone. This is prevent grabbing the gear handle in haste.

You watch 2 minutes of light aircraft landings, and assume the whole of a nation's private pilots, are taught a specific way??? Do they not teach common sense, outside of the USA?

I don't consider any of these landings as HARD landings. Bad landings, yes. Hard landings, no.

@piperg6179

Skip to the last one. The rest aren’t crosswinders. If you are gonna fly in the midwest or Alaska you gotta be comfortable getting a wing way way down and using BIG rudder deflection or you are gonna be blown right off the runway. And no flaps- you will need all the tail authority you can get and that means you want higher stall speed. Forget this video and get a real instructor to take you up when xwind is near demonstrated xwind published for plane. Then when you start flying in real xwinds you will know your limits. You will know if you just have to land on an upwind taxiway or even ACROSS the runway or give it up and fly to another field. OH! And dont think you can taxi around on real windy days…..you may need wing walkers or have to fly it on ground while pointed into the wind. And park nosed into the lee of a hangar.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but when you put the wheels on the ground, you should be cutting throttle and retracting flaps Immediately to glue yourself down. Then continue ailerons into the wind and rudder authority all the way back to the tie down!

It takes a Navy pilot to handle crosswinds without issue. The owner of a Company I worked for while in college had a bad habit of crashing his seaplane about once every 3 years fortunately he was never hurt & his plane was repairable.

What is the issue with the Ultra Pub? The first touch-down doesn't look that bad, but suddenly the plane became forward-draft? Due to terrain?
