so you used the straight stitch .. not the zig zag so that the material would expand? and then you just leave that extra there .. i always cut it out .. thanks
@clothingalterations6 сағат бұрын
Your idea is great. I dont' have zig zag machine. Straight stich may block the expand a bit. Thank you very much for watching. Have a great day.

Hi Kathy, this is a very clever way of putting through the more narrow elastic! I’m glad I watch your videos because you have excellent tips and ways of sewing garments that really help a lot? Thank you very much! Funny thing…I recently struggled with a safety pin 😉💕💃🏻

This has given me an idea for my leggings. They are too weak (and some are too ripped) to cut and re sew (I did similar with a hand seam and they split again) but I'm going to create a patch from other jersey I have on both sides and match to the seam. I was wondering how to make a patch, but I realised from watching this that I can use two and stitch them across the seam and then stitch the other side down too. Thanks!

Thank you for this tutorial. I bought a really pretty dress at thrift store. But, the shirring is stretched out. This is the only video I could find that shows how to replace the elastic. By the way, you have a very sweet, gentle voice. Very calming.

Thanks this was helpful to me. I have never tried to shorten spaghetti straps before, and I think I picked up some basic points from listening to this. I wasn't looking for perfection, or even anything permanent until I know that I have the right length and it is comfortable to wear. I think it made the too-long sundress a bit shorter without having to struggle to hem it, which killed two birds with one stone. For me a sundress is for making you feel as cool as possible on a hot day, but most of the sundresses in the shops are designed without care about comfort and fit and are sloppily gaping at the top. The double spaghetti straps do a fairly good job of covering my skin-coloured bra straps, and now the straps are shortened my bra isn't showing.

Very good video for how to make the elastics bigger. But what do you do to make it smaller?
@grism1321 күн бұрын
I wonder if you could just cut the existing elastic and sew it back to what size you want?

Yes you can do it, but make sure your elastic is still in good condition. If it worn out we need to replace by new elastic,

When doing alterations to make the cup smaller do yo uh recommend using a seam ripper and ripping open the seams instead of just taking it in.

Wait a minute. First you turn it inside out, then suddenly you're sewing on the outside. Makes no sense.
@clothingalterationsАй бұрын
Hello. Put both sides together then you can pin them or sew them together temporarily to make it easy to cut lower both side at the same time. Then take that stiching off you have new arm holes. It is quicker than you cut manually around. Thank you for your watching. Have a great day.
