I know its a weird thing to get stuck on, but the reason (from what id assume) that the plants attack Silica and not Kirito would be their level differences. Typically in MMO's enemies (mobs) aggro range is partially determined by the level difference between the enemy and the player. So a lvl 30 mob would much sooner aggro a level 30-40 player than a level 60-70 since the greater the difference the shorter the aggro range. On the flipside someone vastly outleveled by the mob let's say a level 15 would have a far greater aggro range than someone on par with the mob.
