I'm more looking for improving the sound in the room for zoom calls and the like. The house is pretty quiet as it is, so I don't need to stop sound from outside getting in.

Left you a whopper of a comment. Only to find out the 1 of the 3 smoke detectors I was trying to fix, was the wrong one ROFLOL! Kind of like, did you check that the TV was plugged in? LOL Soooo This apt echos pretty badly, and I swore it was in my bedroom, but it was in the adjoining room... who'd have thunk? When I had all I could take I went to put a sponge over the speaker holes and realize that wasn't the one chirping! LOL. I popped in my rechargeable battery and low and behold the angels of silence were upon me! It's 3:31 how come they always go off in the 1 or 2:00 AM time EVERY TIME? LOL thanks this was very good video. But it did raise a question... why is the main hallway one without a battery back up, it used to have one... and why isn't IT chirping since that's missing???????? Inquiring minds want to know! Especially when they're up to 3:30 AM and are 71 years young! LOL Again thank you for the tips! Bless you child. Update: I just measured the "dead one" and like clockwork when I googled it said if it drops to 6.5-7.7 range it will chirp. This one first read 6.6 and after holding it on it awhile it got as high as 7.7. Go figure.

That is quite significant If your car is like 20 years old you better replace all the rubber components of you suspension fwd and aft Including all motor mounts and gearbox mounts That will make a huge difference Also going for eco tyres useually makes a real good difference Or just buy yourself a mercedes benz with double glazing windows

Hi. I got a basement drum room which i want to sound proof for my neighbours next door. I was thinking of stacking leftover glass wool insulation on the walls, along with hanging either moving blankets or the acoustic foam. Is that a good idea? Any tips?

90% reduction of the noise power corresponds to -10 dB. Are you sure you couldn’t have done better?

So all the streamers I've seen just have the foam plastered on their walls thinking its soundproofed. 😂. They should come here for a detailed explanation on doing that. Great video. 👍

The problem with trying to put that material in walls, is that the studs transfer the sound from one side of the wall to the other. And unless you take care of that problem first, you'll never block the sound. Putting those panels on the wall, stops the sound before it gets to the sheetrock.

what if mine is squeaking and also stops way before it's done drying clothes? My manual says nothing about whether any worn parts need replacing.

it's about elasticity decoupling. keanu reeves favourite motorcycle has the motor mounted on rubber. problem it smells. the transmission of lows through the solids is what annoys us, and it's not about decibels but the shakings like earthquaques. if you touch the window with your head you'll hear the motor louder. the sticky hands rubber is used to dampen drums, it's similar to sorbothane but in a budget. some modern rolls royce has one piece of plywood underneath the car as a sound barrier. cars and houses should be built with the acoustics in mind rather than expecting us to fix the problem, there is no room, cars should have another dessign to begin with, like rycotte mic shockmounts and room within a room floating system.

What about plantation shutters? Do they have any effect on sound? Just wondering as I have plantation shutters in most of my house, except in my open kitchen living room with 9 foot ceilings with tons of windows. I had to add floor to ceiling blackout velvet curtains to dampen the echo. That really helped. Also, if you can afford it, putting up a tapestry or a cool looking quilt that also is decorative would be more pleasant. Any difference that can be measured?

Hi anything we can do about vents? My apt building has these big (ac/heat) vents and I think that is letting a lot of noise in between the apts. We are not allowed to hang or stick anything to the walls though.

If the goal is to increase clarity of speakers : une a mirror to locate the places where you can see the speaker from seating position, and make panels with wood frames + old towels and lycra covering, and place them on those reflection points. This is neither sound deadening nos sound proofing; but it enhance greatly the imaging, depth, 3D, articulation and clarity of any speaker for music or cinema. Also use black lycra if you are doing video projector are dark colors of those on the sides and ceiling do enhance contrast on the white screen.

The only way to use MLV is to have it floating or suspended in-between system, having it on the ground or inbetween drywall layers will null its effectiveness and be wasted money.

just mark where your floor joists/wall studs are and don't put screws there.

I planned to dampen the whole car, done roof door and hood so far ,1 thing I've noticed is there're 4db noise reduction but much significant low frequency noise, which sometimes feel like in sitting in an enclosed drum, a little bit annoying

The real adivce for the cheapest soundproofing of a room : eat eggs everyday (full of vitamins and proteins). Stick every empty box to the walls/ceiling. A good way to identify noise bridges is to light up the room and check from outside where the light escapes : sound will pass easily through the same places.

13:17 if you build a wooden frame you can staple the moving blankets to and hang them like pictures. if you want to be fancy you can make hexagonal frames or cut the mats and insert them behind unframed paintings.

Up north, for our outlets, we have foam pads that are placed behind the plate to stop drafts. These would work in place of caulking and would be removable should the need arise.

I need this, I'm right next to the heavy garage door, every time they open it... it closes like boooooooom. So if I'm sleeping, and they shut that door I'm automatically wide awake. 😡🤬
