mwz can definitely be frustrating at times but i really loved it back when it released but stopped playing it by december. started up again with s5 and it's still a ton of fun. helldivers was fun for a bit but it doesn't compare to cod, even with all its bs it's amazing how they juggle 3 different modes every year and have a campaign in it too...even tho they have really dropped off. btw i buy these on disc so i can sell them after, too much digital waste otherwise!

The only people who still play this are sweats all casual players who just wanted too hop in massacre some bots and bugs are gone. The only people still there are their Discord members, sweats, and people clinging too the past.

At 14:16, you missed out on a few facts that were important to understanding the debacle as a whole that I believe are important to note. When Helldivers 2 first launched, it was always intended that players would have to make PSN accounts in order to play the game. Arrowhead Studios is the developer of the game, but Sony owns the the rights to the intellectual property of Helldivers, as well as the publishing rights. I am aware that the PSN website listing of Helldivers 2 had its PSN account requirements changed and exposed via eagle-eyed users using the Wayback Machine, but I will be addressing that in the next paragraph. What happened in the beginning when the game was launched was that the game's servers were filled to capacity with players, and many were unable to join. This led to a cavalcade of memes about people wanting to play the game, but being unable to do so. One of the community managers for Arrowhead noted on Twitter when the PSN debacle was going down that if the requirement to make or link a PSN account were enforced at that time, the game's servers would have gone down completely. They instead opted to tell everyone at the latest possible time, withholding that information, noting that they dreaded having to share the information/announcement, as they knew it wouldn't fly over well with the community. (I believe it may have been Johan Pilestedt who stated this sentiment, but please correct me if I am wrong.) I would argue that this was a misstep, and that such information should have been shared much earlier with the community, not treating it as a secret and responsibility that they refused to disclose until months after the game had launched. It should also be noted that while a great deal of countries are not supported by Sony, many outside of the supported countries pointed out that Sony tended to turn a blind eye to those who falsely stated where they actually lived. When the protests and review bombing were deemed 'successful' by the community after Sony had addressed it on Twitter, rolling back the PSN account requirement, Sony then decided to remove all unofficial support and the ability to purchase the game from countries that were not meant to have the game sold in in the first place. This left many outside of the supported countries lamenting the fact that the community had ruined the ability for their friends (And themselves) the ability to continue purchasing and playing the game. To summarize, Arrowhead should have been more forthcoming with the account requirements from the start, and the Helldivers community's anger was greatly misguided. In review bombing the game, they brought attention to a fact that Sony allowed people outside supported countries to play their games, so long as they acknowledged that they were turning a blind eye to it and to not mention it. So much for the community stating, "We either dive together, or we don't dive at all." People have expressed a desire to see a review bombing cape be introduced into the game, which baffles me as they made it impossible for some players to play the game and their efforts only made it so that they would only have to avoid linking a PSN account, which was a relatively minor thing to have to do in hindsight. I uninstalled the game at around the time the debacle happened. Along with the balancing team, the constant crashes and the game's worsening optimization fixes, I do not regret doing so.

Is Helldivers still fun? Absolutely yes

310 hours of in mission time. I unlocked and completed every warbond. I have every item in the super store. I have every stratagem, & every ship module. I'm capped on all resources and have been capped until ship modules come out, uncapped, then capped again for a long time. Guess what? I'm diving tonight because the boys need me. We doing bots 9 cold, as usual, and hoping and praying there are 2 gunship factories next to a jammer. There is more coming, but I don't fight to "get stuff." I fight so that democracy will spread to every nook and cranny throughout space. I absolutely LOVE jumping into SOS calls, & play however they are playing it. I can remember my first 4 or 7. Getting the orange objectives done was the goal. I expect others go in with that same unpolished mind set.

Regardless of what anyone in the comments feels, this game had gotten stale, and that's reflective in daily player counts. The game should have been popular enough to sustain itself for quite a while, but thanks to each horrible update, you can see a steep decline in the playerbase. Arrowhead struck gold and just couldn't capitalize on it, and it's not going to get any better untill the fan base stops deluding itself.

i'm at lvl 68 and i'm not even close to getting bored or tired of the game, i understand your opinion and it's fine. Maybe you could try diferent strategies or something, to me it is like, yeah the missions are the same, but in every dive things are not the same, people are not the same ( i mostly play with randoms) and most importantly i think it's not a game were you spend hours playing you play two or three missions and play something else then if you feel it come back and so on, nice vid man

With the new update hopefully people can get that same feeling again when they first played hd2

I have no doubt the developers will cook with helldivers going forward. Sony will (hopefully) baby it and take it forward with fresh new game modes and enemies.

This is exactly what happened to me. One of my friends got it, he convinced the rest to get it, and then I got it last, while everyone was playing for like a week or 2 at least. Then I began to love it. Played it like there was no tomorrow. And after they stopped asking me to get it and I finally bought it, they played less and less until they left. Now I am a level 90 with close to 300 hours amongst level 12s on the low end and in the highest level 36 or so. We only play like once maybe twice a month, which sucks because I can never get those moments of playing with my friends while we were all still fairly new and progressing alongside them, rather then needing to run easier missions because they cant get through the 7 and above ones.
