I remember one game playing flag football in 7th grade in JR High, and I was on the center front line kickoff return blocker. Other team kicked it right at me, and I knocked down the ball down near midfield. Dead ball at that spot, since the ball is dead on muffs. I thought Coach was going to get mad at first because I just reacted, not understanding the benefits of what I did. Definitely got a shout-out for heads up play during film study of the game. My only regret wasn't trying to catch the ball instead of knocking it down. But it did get on me pretty quick on the kick.

Not sure why he is all apologetic about catching the ball. The intended receiver couldn't catch the ball, and what if it was a tipped pass. Then he could legally catch the ball. So it's better to react than to just let the ball go past you. Could be an interception saved.
