I actually have water leaking from the pressure switch. Where the heck is that coming from ?
@tonycoffee733512 күн бұрын
Could be a couple different places. 1. The top of the stainless nipple that goes into the switch. 2. The bottom diaphragm of the switch, I have seen tiny pinholes in them. And I have seen a giant hole. Pressure switch are maybe 25 bucks. Just make sure you get the right one. Most common is M1 style

A quick way to purge air during priming phase is to remove the guage on top of the pump and open to atmosphere. Then slowly open the tank value and allow the well pipes to fill with water. When the open pipe exit overflows, shut the tank valve and reinstall pressure gauge. Now all the vertical well pipes and pump volute are completely filled with water, no air. Start the pump and system should pump water at pressure immediately.

You were great. I looked at other videos. Your explanations are the best, which was done slowly and step by step. I was able to repair my valve. 👍👍👍

I worked around industrial piping and pipe filters for 40 years or better. Leak lock and Teflon tape should not be used on the same joint. Chain wrenches are for rotating lagged pipe not pipe wrench jaws in that put flat spots in the pipe. Get a clue or keep getting negative feed back.😢

Great video, best ive seen. But Im a little confused. I noticed you disregarded the drop leg (excess 25-30ft) and installed the foot valve directly below the jet assembly. If I understand correctly, this would create less work for the pump?
@RichS.73yroldbodybuilderАй бұрын
You showed nothing underneath the tank. Why is that? You really should show the job from the side also since that is where the underneath part of the tank needs to be disconnected and also show that if you don’t have the newer part for the connect where you had to use the actual gasket instead of the screw on if you’re using an older valve.
@natf5869Ай бұрын
There are hub adapters for this purposes, used with no hub fitting you could use a slip coupling up top and been done in half hour.

Pretty impressive, but it's too bad you haven't had the benefit of OJT. You didn't quite hit the mark, but in this case that connection will probably be OK.

is the HUB the entire cast iron part that is visible, or are there separate 'HUBS' visible in this video, (at 15:53 for example) ?

People just don’t realise that the jet & Venturi’s do actually wear out especially if there is iron in the water because it’s much like a. Grind ing paste but in a smaller version! The nozzles & Venturi’s are measured in 64” of an inch in diameter! Cheers

Nice informative video. Thanks. Three suggestions … for fun: (1) Put bolts upside down in the Baker bottom ring and nuts on top. This way you can see if the bolts are loose or nuts fall off then the bolt drops giving you a visual to replace or torque the nut. A box end on the bolt head will hit the pipe and hold the bolt head for using a torque wrench on the nuts. “Ya don’t need no precise torque” one might say … but when the home owner sees you using a torque wrench you are ‘selling’ professionalism. Always torque the nut not the bolt head to give real torque and proper bolt stretch for the designed clamping force especially when you want equal forces on all bolts on a compression coupling type seal. (2) Put a small amount of food grade grease (silicone) to catch any drilling chips or grinding sparks where you can easily wipe the grease out with the contaminants ‘caught’ when done. Loading the hole saw with grease may help save the core from falling in on other jobs. (3) Not so much for this job, but rather for instrumentation or pressure switches: I do not allow Teflon tape at all anywhere as good rule to follow. The tape strings can get into instruments or cover a small pressure gauge or switch port that is internally only a few thousandths of an inch diameter to limit the volume of spray should the gauge bourdon tube rupture. Teflon tape is not allowed in your toolbox in the oilfield for this reason.

I was just told that our two pipe jet system should be replaced before selling because no one would work on it and that it would cost 5 to 6K to replace it. It sounds like bullshit to me. What is your opinion? We currently have no issues as far as I know of with the system.
@markybecker2 ай бұрын
I’d say it’s BS advice. Jet pumps are only a few hundred and replacing is simple quick job for a well/pump guy.
