I eould think the most embarrassing loss would be one where someone with a lead bet it all. All bet all. And all three lost so three new players for the next show

This guy has taught me a valuable lesson: if I'm ever on Jeopardy and in second place going into a tough FJ, bet nothing and hope the leader gets it wrong!

Jennifer, we're going to start with you with $3,200. What did you come up with? Who is Tom Hanks? He won two Oscar Awards but only one of them is for best picture - so that counts as an incorrect response. And it will cost you ... everything Let's find out what Christine came up with. Who is Daniel Day Lewis? He won three Oscar Awards but none of them in a best film. So that also counts as an incorrect response. And you didnt risk anything. So you stay at $14,000. Let's go to Brian who has a big lead with $21,000 and we're going to find out which actor did Brian come up with. Who is Leonardo DiCaprio? Sorry, that is not correct. The correct response was "Who is Marlon Brando and Dustin Hoffman?" as the two actors. And it's gonna cost you $7,001 - drop you down to $13,999. That means you lost to Christine by $1.

If he had bet $7,000 even, they would have gone to a tie-breaker; no more co-champions.

So, of course my Jeopardy! Final Answer is: These were the 4 Films that won the Best Picture Oscar referenced to in the actual Final Jeopardy Answer shown in the video. You have 30 seconds, KZfaq Commenters. Good Luck.

Those were indeed terrible and cringe answers answers, with the exception of Tom Hanks since he won twice in a row(!), but Philadelphia never won Best Picture lmao. DiCaprio was the worst answer since his Oscar status was a meme by the time. Truly embarrassing indeed. Edit: Oh, and the fact that they had TWO correct answes and gave none 💀😭

Not embarrassing at all. Its common strat to bet enough that if the runner up bets it all and guesses right then you still win if you guess right. What would be embarrassing would be if the lead player didnt bet enough and lost even with a right answer.

I thought the clue was poorly worded. I had to re-read the answer too many times to understand what they were looking for exactly. I have noticed that the writers seem to write the clues either too vague or too unnecessarily wordy and confusing lately.

Embarrassing? Maybe. Wrong strategy? Not at all. She just counter bet, and threw the game in the hands of the opponents knowledge. It's a strategy that is just rarely executed and even more rarely executed correctly.

I wouldn’t say that an embarrassing loss, but that was simply an incredible wager by the second place player going into final. She was in a perfect position to wager zero there. She needed the leader to miss anyway, and wagering zero honestly gave her the best chance of winning. The leader would have had to seriously out-think her in this case, or just simply answer correctly, which he did neither.

To those trying to understand Brian's wager: Brian was trying to win with 28001 if Christine doubled her score to 28000. Good wagers on all parts. Christine made a good bet and got lucky

This isn't embarrassing. This is a typical strategy called the cover wager, in which the player in the lead assumes that a trailing opponent will 1) respond correctly and 2) wager all their earnings, thus in order to avoid a tie or end up trailing, they must bet $1 more. However, the player in the lead must ensure their response is also correct.

Christine made a very wise wager!! She really deserved the win. I find Jennifer’s bet curious: shouldn’t she have wagered $3199, leaving her with $1 in case the others bet everything??
@theAstarrr

well Jennifer wanted to make as much money as possible (to have a chance if she was right and they were wrong), and first place at least 99% of the time doesn't bet everything in final jeopardy (because they don't have to in order to win).

The amount of money they had made it confusing as to what he should wager. The wager that would guarantee a win happened to be the exact amount that would make him lose. Though he could have wagered $7000 and been guaranteed a draw or better if he got it right or she got it wrong. But I don't know what happens in the event of a draw on Jeopardy. I'm guessing he wanted to avoid that.

WRONG! Not embarrassing at all. He bet the amount that would get him to be one dollar more than if his opponent had doubled her $14,000. How sad that you display your total ignorance of endgame strategy for Jeopardy. Nobody could be more 100% wrong than you.
