My dad was friends with the Reno & Smiley Band before I was born . Red stayed at our house a couple of times, where I a 13 year old kid got to play his guitar.

Great to hear this, i had two albums by them on vinyl in the 1970s & 1980s, where it stated they played the Kerosine Circuit, so named as it was before electricity came to the outlying communities.

I heard that this is not the real spotted pony , but another mislabled tune. Anyone else hear that?

If people call it spotted pony, that's what it is.

'Excuse me,, I'm late! Kinda new to me. It's like a trance or a vacuum to not pull away from. My take is that the banjo ( or ukelayle?) is kinda like 'the drum' here? Y'all sound and 'feel' Real Good!!! That melody and it's dynamics are breathing! ((+ i wonder where this was? '

Great fiddling, a Smiley guitar break (!), some nice Ronnie mando, and ten amazing seconds of the Don showing how to make a brief break count.

Until quite recently I didn't even know that banjo-uke was even a thing in old-time music, now it seems every video I click on has one in it. Clawhammer banjo, of course, but banjo-uke? Learn something new every day I reckon. I really like the rhythm of it.

Swings mighty fine at this moderate pace to this ear . . . Remarkably well-balanced recording, esp. considering the likely informal nature thereof . . .

Great tune! A bit less banjo-Uke would make it possible to hear the clawing.
