It should be noted that some of the "glowing" is more artistic representation rather than actual glowing.... That said, I 100% agree with pacing. I honestly feel One Piece needs more filler arcs just to buy time for the manga to get ahead....

Thank you for pointing out the misogyny in demon slayer. It's actually the reason why I dropped it. I'm not even a feminist either it's just an annoying anime thing . The female characters are usually way weaker or dumber than the guys.

Demon Slayer stans barely reads more than 10 manga at a time. I was surprised to learn she's a fan favourite when she shows up once and never again until the final arc where she gets killed in her one and only fight in the entire series. She's nothing more but a plot device with 0 screentime while she was alive, only important in the aftermath of her death to explain why Douma weakened. Her character was also plain as fuck and can be summarised as "you killed my sister and i want revenge!!"

@@zenaku3589 She's boring and Mary Sue-ish (If I'm finding the word right), and I don't even know how or why Douma even fell for her at the end of his death. It was so random imo, but I guess its because Shinobu is so 'pReTtY aNd pErFeCt'. Stans be thinkin' that Shinobu is perfect and that there's no reason to hate her. Some of their comebacks (if you dislike/hate her) are like - "How can you hate her? She carried the manga." - "You have no reason to hate her." - "How? She's well-written." - "Name one reason why you hate her." (To which, if you gave an explanation about not liking her, they write a paragraph (or more) as to why Shinobu did what she had to do, probably forcing you to like her.) A person also mentioned how that if we disliked/hated her, we don't understand and suck at (her) character writing and analysis on them. Like, God forbid us to hate characters ffs.

@@MariposaIG, yeah, even as a fan of Demon slayer, that is ridiculous. People need to learn to cope with and handle criticism. Hell, they could even use that criticism to build improvements of their own to the character!

The biggest problem was the demons. The story could've dived into the demons instead of making all of them one dimensional villains. Towards the end of the story, there is a demon who is just randomly on the side of the good guys and it comes out of nowhere. We could've had the demons engaged in a civil war or something like that, but nope.

⁠⁠@@Somnus_et_Somnia, then if you don’t then I guess I can just tell in plain words that it is completely valid to call them demons. Know why? This person on reddit put it best in my opinion. VladPrus said this: “They are in Japanese called "oni" which in Japanese folklore are stuff like bad spirits/ogres/monsters. Oni are often translated in English to "demons" in many different media and in basic level they are demons (evil supernatural things), but they came from buddhist culture and not christian culture, so specifics are different. And by the way, Japanese word for vampire literally means "blood-sucking oni".” So really, it is valid that they can be called demons even though they are very similar to vampires.

Demon Slayer is a masterclass of emotional manipulation. Yes, its battle system is poorly thought out. It doesn't expand on the world to the level of its contemporaries. It's characters are relatively flat. But lacking these things doesn't make it bad, or not meaningful as a piece of entertainment. Demon Slayer is special because it makes you feel DESPITE what the rules of good writing would suggest. Deeply logical people aren't going to see the value in a show that appeals to your emotions. I don't think it's fair to criticize and label Demon Slayer as objectively bad, not when so many people from all walks of life can appreciate it for what it is.

For the rengoku death, I feel like they should've killed Urokadaki. They should've made Urodakai a hashira from the beginning and then the death would feel more impactful.
