I used to own a classic 5.5 and a 3rd gen IPod I recently bought a 5.5 for £45 I haven’t stop using it since I bought it a week ago it great in my car and music in the house An guess what ? My phone battery life benefits from me re using an iPod 😊

my first apple device is here, iPod touch Gen 4 64GB. I thought this was a phone but actually not, then a day after been to Dick Smith again and purchased a iPhone 4 16GB.

I recently fitted an iFlash hard drive replacement to mine and upped it to 128gb, I like that you can play music without having a notification quieten your music, or listen to music whilst you take a phone call.

The best way to get music on an iPod is via ripped CDs. With CDs available at yard sales and thrift stores for pennies (or free at the local library) it is easy to fill your iPod with music you like. And by ripping whole CDs you get the whole artist’s vision, where album composition and editing plays a major role.

So when you mean every app you download, does it also mean the apps you have downloaded a long time ago but can’t see in your purchases history on your newer iOS? For example: I got 3d bricked breaker revolution a long time ago on my old iPad with my iCloud account, and it won’t show in my purchases on my newer device. Will it show if I get an older iOS device and use that same iCloud account?

I returned to an iPod for music consumption recently and it has helped me with reducing my nonsense screen time on the phone so much. The disconnected feeling when going for a walk, listening to music and never being interrupted by a notification or call … it's great. I prefer the 6 gen for the split screen menu & cover flow, it just looks a bit nicer even.

OP missed the entire point of owning one of these. The Wolfson DAC that was only in the 5.5 version makes it possibly the best sounding iPod to-date. With proper listening gear, it is the best of the classic iPods in sound. And honestly, iPod users miss the touch wheel for manual volume control that can be held off from pocket touch with the original switch. Yes kids the original switch prevented butt-skipping.

Here’s the thing, the wolfson DAC doesn’t make much of a noticeable difference when it comes to sound. Especially if the music files are mp3 or acc. You’d have to get a mini DAC and in ear monitors to even get good usage from the Wolfson.

the wolfson dac actually sounds WORSE than the 6/7th gen and beyond.... people liked it because of its slight warmth and back in 2005 earbuds had no bass or very little. The newer ones actually have a cleaner, more accurate sounding DAC and a lower noise floor. I've confirmed this as I own a 5.5 as well as a nano with the newer dac. Over a stereo they sound the same but with modern headphones the newer ones actually sound a LOT cleaner. The wolfson DAC thing is a stupid myth that ignorant people have been spreading around almost 2 decades, now.

Hello! Could you share your collection of .ipa files with me? I recently bought an iPod Touch 4 with iOS 4.3.3 and 32GB of internal storage for $16. Unfortunately, I'm new to iOS, I don't know what to install there, I was only able to jailbreak and install a few random ipas. I recommend uploading the files to Google Drive or MEGA.
