These guys are so entertaining. I was totally blown away with their versions of One Fine Day, I'm So Young, and Yakety Sax. Apparently, this couple can do anything they set their minds to. ❤❤❤

I didn't like the 1998 film Why Do Fools Fall In Love starring Larenz Tate. I thought he was grossly miscast and the film really didn't delve into the depth of how the group was established and the phenomenal impact that they inspired among future boy and girl vocal groups. There should be a major feature-length film developed to chronicle the early beginnings of the group and how they went on to change the era of Rock and roll music forever.

I was really disappointed by the 1998 film, "Why Do Fools Fall in Love" starring Larenz Tate and Halle Berry. I felt that the film did a grave disservice to the legacy of the group and what's more, actor Larenz Tate was sadly miscast as the precocious vocal dynamo, Frankie Lymon. Group member Jimmy Merchant gives a very detailed background of how the group was formed and how their sound helped to popularize, future vocal boy & girl groups" that would emerge in the coming decades. Many documentaries often overlook the four older members, Sherman Garnes, Jimmy Merchant, Herman Santiago, and Joe Negroni while focusing solely on Frankie Lymon. They were talented, good-looking, and could dance as effectively as they could harmonize. It's a shame how their record company took advantage of them and failed to groom them for stardom. As a result, they would be subjected to years of obscurity and be almost forgotten until Diana Ross reemerged interest in their unique sound with her cover of their monumental 1956 hit, "Why Do Fools Fall In love" in 1981.

LOVE this cover band my D I L snd Don brought me to Asbury Park on my birthday 1/11/2020 & surprised me with dinner and a show with Gypsy! When I was in the restroom at the restaurant where she was reforming.. swear to you it seemed like it was actually Stevie Knicks!! Sounds like her !! It was a magical show and so cherishable sharing time with my son and daughter in law with their thoughtful surprise to me it was pivotal it was 70 degrees that night out on the beach outside and the last Birthday we would share together b4 the world changed horrifically by the dark ones in the spring ……..

The Spaniels were one of my earliest influences in music. Day after day I would sing along with their records. That was in the fifties. In the sixties I had the honor of performing with Gerald Gregory and some of the other Spaniels at a show in Langhorne, Pa. I was singing top tenor for The "Original" Duprees.
