It was a little more complicated to make a complete record back in the day. You were recording to tape. Had to sinc the drum machine, sequencer , keyboard in order to record. There was no punching in. Artist , composer/beat maker and producer had to sit with engineer and pick through multiple vocal takes. Thats why a “producer “ role was different because it was an extra creative, set of ears and organizer who can take all the parts of a song no matter if played by musicians or a guy with an mpc and keyboard and map out an full arrangement and the right vocal takes for the final song. People so used to being able to do what was essentially at least 5 jobs back then now they can do most of it in software without the artist even being present, heck even without the engineer being present.

I have a quick funny story about this album. I think I was about 13 years old - I let my friend borrow my Ol' Dirty bastard "Return to.." CD in exchange for this Redman album and we'd return it to each other later after listening... He told me he was playing the Bastard CD and his dad immediately took the CD and cut it in half with scissors! (Mind you, we were very young, although my parents let me listen to whatever the hell I wanted). When I found out his dad cut my CD in half, I told him I was keeping Muddy Waters. I still have it to this day...

@@AgainZa333 😂😂😂 yeah parents didn't like rap music too much. At least the ones from the boomer generation.
@AgainZa33320 күн бұрын
@@BackToTheBoomBap They sure didn't back then! My parents are "boomers" but now-a-days they actually like rap music. In fact they were excited to see Snoop and Dre at the super bowl lol. Times have definitely changed. Their cat is named Ke$ha for cryin' out loud! lol

I was fortunate enough to grow up with Wu tang - one of my first CDs at 11-12 years old (1996) was Tical. I quickly had all five solo albums shortly after and have been listening to Wu ever since. I often consider them my fav group. Ghost is def my fav rapper. Pretty sure I have most of all wu albums ever (50 plus!!) - (solo / crew albums ((not once upon a time of course lol)) and mixtapes etc. *ps nice RZA impression lol

Think of it this way guys. When you make a song with a piano, you are using the piano as an instrument, an instrument that was created by someone else. If you make a beat by sampling, you are using a record, that was created by someone else, as an instrument.

The beat to takeover is better but as far as a diss track… Ether is superior. Jay spent too much time talking about Mobb deep than Nas on takeover & I’m sorry but he loses points for that on takeover. Ether is better. Nas is better than Jay & Nas the 🐐
