In Spanish the word Colonel is 'Coronel' (kaw - Raw - Nell). Each letter o sounds like 'aw'.

I'm watching this from Sri Lanka. I'm in my A/levels now. But I am still practicing and watching these vedios because I know the importance of learning English
If a senior military officer retires and takes over a snack food company, does he become the kernel colonel? Or if someone is promoted to the rank above private then becomes a ghost, is he an incorporeal corporal? If two junior British officers move into adjoining flats, is one the left tenant and the other the right tenant? If an officer is promoted beyond the rank of colonel can he be specific or must he only speak in general terms?

The quote you said Master the rules like a pro so that you can break them like an artist. If we don't use that in this quote it looks more esthetic.

I notice that the long form of "the" is sometimes used as a filler. I suppose the speaker doesn't know if the next word will commence with a vowel.

It depends whether you are pronouncing "thorough" as an American or an English person. This lady said "thour-o", because she's American. In English english it is "thu-rah." There are slight differences not only in pronounciation but also in meanings of the same word, between English and American "english" of which we need to be aware.

English is a "Naturally evolving language " . Plus its script is not phonetic . On top of that caring for correct stress , intonation etc. Therefore, there is NOTHING correct or incorrect pronunciation in English . " Correct " means the thing in vogue or fashion . For a non-native speakers , it is neither rational nor economical to learn and practice 50,000 words . It is enough that we are able to spell these words somehow . Let us think and speak rationally and logically .
