This is awesome. I have a serious question. is it best to use a thumb pic and whatever it is you have on your index, middle and ring finger? also what is it that you use on those fingers?

Mr Sheehan I just finished the late Cliff Burtons book to live is to die and as I read the book all I could think about is what ur opinion is about his playing? That would be so cool to have you guys jam together but unfortunately never gonna happen!! I try to play my 6 string guitar “rhythm “it’s just a hobby for me not good enough for a band plus I’m to old anyway just turned 59 I first discovered you when you played for DLR Mr Via in which I had the honor of seeing him jam it Connecticut! You and Steve just ripped I was amazed Wow. Thanks for your music

youre not wrong but when you put it like that isnt any and every instrument a rhythmic instrument. when i think of rhythic instrument i think of one with a strong pulse, not just any pulse like a hit, strumming pattern, or piano chord; but something strong and percussive like drums or bass which is why when it comes to setting the tempo the band tends to lean on them 2 more than anyone else tho its important for all of us to have a great since of timing.

Thank you! Is there a formula for the intervals you showed? E.g., why is the 2nd two frets away from the root, and not one fret away? Thanks

So in a nutshell, every time you change to a higher string you should do it with a down stroke. When you change to s lower string, such as g to d, you should do it on an up stroke?

If I’m doing a 5 note repetitive riff starting with a DOWNSTROKE at the low E string and ending with an UPSTROKE on the A string then based on the theory of shortest distance i would start the riff the next time on an UPSTROKE. If that is correct then i would be playing the same riff with a different picking pattern the second time through. Is that correct? Or should i always start a new phrase with a down stroke? So basically what I’m asking is: “Do i simply start from my last note or do i start a new phrase with a downstroke?” Part 2: Do i start new phrases with DOWNSTROKES if going from list to higher strings? Do i start new phrases with UPSTROKES if going from higher to lower strings?
