you can beat minecraft with just a dirt block, a sapling and a lava. and another block to stand/spawn on and of course an (unactivated) end portal

17:38 He mentions that you can't ever get lava or obsidian, this isn't true. You could make a village with enough villagers, doors, and beds. Afterwards you could make another large platform to spawn pillagers. After receiving the bad omen effect you'd complete a raid. After the raid is done while the player has the hero of the village effect villagers give gifts. The toolsmith, weaponsmith, and armorsmith can all gift lava buckets. Only the toolsmith is available at the point he's at currently, however with the right set-up this unlocks the nether and nearly every single block in the game through piglin trading, and other resources.

So I tried to do this and somehow got a floating 2x2 chunk area at spawn in the middle of nowhere? Like, actual chunks, with trees 'n' stuff. And there was a village floating in the distance??? Also in the middle of nowhere??? Don't do downgrades, kids :)

Wow, this is the only video in the series I hadn't watched before. Seems you've done a lot of the theorycrafting I've been doing over the past few weeks. I've been planning on a one block that makes Pinu's look like easy mode, lol. The fact that chunk regen doesn't seem to work with datapacks throws a wrench in the gears though so I'll have to do a lot more research. It's a rather sweet irony that this whole series lead up to finally obtaining the single block that the other one block starts with; Grass.

I had a simple question: "how long would it take to beat factorio without automation". I typed the question into google, this video popped up. The description let me skip straight to the part I wanted to know. And then once I had my answer, it was nice to go back in the video and examine some of the details. This how using the internet should be. Thank you for respecting my time and for not burying the answer under a mountain of clickbait and/or other bullshit. And also, great job.

@Jokeypokey...There is a way to get lava...trade with the piglins till you get obsidian and make a portal to the nether...LOTS OF LAVA

I've thought of a way to make it even more extreme. Instead of starting with grass in a grove/snowy tundra biome you start with any block that can spawn hostile mobs in a non-snowy biome. Then you get either a bow with power 3 or an iron sword with bane of arthropods 3 and use it to kill spiders for string. Once you have enough string for a wool block congratulations, you can now farm string slightly more efficiently. Then repeat the process until you can farm string efficiently then bridge all the way out to a grove/snowy tundra where it can snow, allowing you to finally have easy access to blocks and more importantly fox spawning. I've been considering trying this challenge but there's still some hurdles I need to overcome first.

you could probably convert zombies into drowneds to get copper for a lightningrod to reduce the wait for a lighting strike to hit the pigs

I have a question. Cant Skeletons give progression? Bones can be made into Bone Blocks, right? It would be hell, but if you manage to get enough bones, you might be able to start building out.
