14:37 what are you talking about?? Yes they take a bit to do, but they definitely speed up the game. The properties are all bought much faster - instead of waiting for the player who lands on it to have enough to want it. Great video, in spite of the disagreement I had on that part.

Hiya, just a quick question regarding the development card: year of plenty. Where is the reference I can find to prove is 3 for 2 cards. My understanding is you can take 2 cards from the supply store immediately without giving 3 cards. Thank you!

I don't like the rock papper sizors because it again makes the gameplay redondan you know you loose before the first turn but i thing rotation is something yuguioh should implement at some point

It's definitely more than dressing. The themes of religion run very heavily throughout the series (especially those by Bungie). Yeah the early design decisions were random, chaotic, and codenames were nonsense. But that's how many creative projects start, you start with a poorly thought out likely unoriginal idea, and then as you go along the team thinks about it more and more and the ideas become more and more developed. Jokes can turn into serious parts of the series, in jokes develop from jokes into more flushed out thought out parts. Yes the simple high level ideas are thought out earlier on (FPS military sci-fi shooter etc), but they're just rigging to actually form the full story around. Halo definitely followed this design philosophy. As did Half-life and many other games. Especially back then because you could cut and redo content much more easily than today (today it takes far far more resources so cutting things and rewriting is much more reserved), and cutting content is a key part of this type of creative design philosophy. Halo started using many things as a joke. The game pretty clearly didn't have a coherent direction until quite far in. If you look at the beta etc footage then the entire tone of the game is different, the serious darker tone came relatively late. But when it did they pretty clearly centred on that and pushed it. The religious iconography etc started as a joke, but by the end of the development of the first game it was a pretty clear theme. By Halo 2 it was a very clear and thought out part of the story, far from the dressing and jokes of the early development of the first game.

I disagree. I'm 68 and have been playing since I've been 8. I've been at risk parties and have played many top notch players. Usually 4 to 5 players. The Australian crawl is definitely a winning strategy. What winning comes down to are the turn it cards. You want to position yourself to be the one to put first player out of the game and get his cards. Normally at this point turn In is worth somewhere around 30 men. This is what it boils down to. Of course try to accumulate As many men as possible. I disagree with his when to turn in cards. I like to hold onto mine as long as possible, be flexible, there will be times you will want to turn in first, no set rule here. Make alliances but be ruthless. I almost always win even when players say they are going to team up on me. They can't help themselves their alliance usually breaks up at some point. I love this game and the banter that it creates. Great family game. Yu really get to know a person. Have fun

Yugioh actually serves as the best example of how to solve the Queen's Problem, too, though - despite having back-to-back tier 0 formats, ubiquitous generic boss monsters and a dozen mandatory staples, the gameplay experience outside large tournaments remains diverse and Konami is able to make good money from products that aren't even intended to be competitive. So what's the secret? Strong aesthetic design. If you don't want every player playing the same GoodStuff.dek, you need to create players who aren't exclusively motivated by power level. You do that by giving them aesthetic themes so appealing that people can't help but build the deck. Those people then create high-diversity casual leagues automatically by showing up to their local game stores with beloved hobby decks. Yugioh does this masterfully - you've got the blue-eyes and dark magician players, who choose bad decks because they love the shows and characters they're related to. You've got the Infernoid and Qli players, who choose bad decks because they have incredible high-quality artworks. You've got the Nekroz and Ritual Beast players, who choose bad decks because they love the high skill expression. You've got the Purrely and Ghostrick players, who play bad decks because of the cute ingenuity displayed through their art and mechanics. This is why Yugioh in practice struggles with the queen's problem far less than other card games: many other games are really bad at creating strong emotional attachments to cards and characters. Pokemon only features a small fraction of the full roster in each rotation, and MTG's art directors don't understand what makes a good artwork for a trading card.

Just played tn for the first time and won came here to see how strong my intuition was lol. Wasn’t sure if I was making sound decisions like not trading unless it was my turn and remembering what my opponents were asking for. Also even if i couldn’t trade or didn’t want to still suggesting deals to see what resources were inIn demand

Oh man, I love that you had the Herbology lesson card from Harry Potter. 😆 I had a deck and a couple of boosters from that card game, but I gave away a bunch of cards to a homeless shelter when we had a massive financial ruin and had to move into a house that was 3 and 2 kids to a room. Didn't have the space anymore. Brought back some memories. I kept the Yugioh and Magic and most of the Pokemon, and Mobil Suit Gundam cards though.

2:20 or you could multiply all damage, health, and defense by 10. You don't deal 3.6 damage, but rather 36 and instead of starting with 20 health (assuming Magic for this example) you start with 200.

You really make it seem like your idea was amazing and clever when its just discount magic, just like every tgc. You rip on yugioh for not having a theme, but the early days of yugioh were great because it was your own personality coming through in creative deckbuilding. If there was a theme, you made it that way.

I definitely love how it’s not overpowered, doesn’t make me feel like I’m playing a god (because that’s just not fun for anyone else in the party) but I did add more movement to my 3rd almost similar to a rogues movement but I also buffed up the unarmed strike by using claws and the frenzy attack by allowing 2 bonus attack’s instead of one but I love everything else. I’d love to see more content like this in the future

Even video games where you can use updates to balance characters and abilities aren't even close to being balanced, so it's impossible to produce an idealized "balance" game. In fact, the only way to produce a "balanced" game is to have every single characters and abilities do the exact same thing, which means the game isn't very interesting at all.
