Outstanding. Thanks. I have the sds100 i got specifically to travel. If I can ever justify the expense again I'll be doing this with a sds200 in a CRV. Lots of room. The mounts are closer to the top of the dash. I wonder if you could make a steering wheel mount to scan/hold and switch favorites from the usb. I've only hooked it to my pc and scanned from it. I don't even know what if anything else can be done from the usb.

thanks. nice "hack" on just getting the motor out. I happen to have a 1/4" mini socket wrench with a 10 mil socket. I could R & R the motor inside the door well. I had replaced the motor a couple of years ago. Turns out the part the motor fits into was seized up. The motor torque couldn't overcome the rust. I jammed a screw driver up there and gave it a twist. Sprayed some WD40 up there and works like a champ. A tired champ but it works.

Here is a suggestion: Turn off Replay/Recording if you do not use it, that will help keep the SD Card from getting corrupted if you power the radio off the ignition switch. The extra read/write activity is what corrupts the cards. Also , keep a spare (formatted and programmed) SD Card in the car so you can replace it in a pinch if it does get corrupted.

Avi’s Garage> So, do you have an alternate switch you flip that stops receiving power from the small ‘power pack’ when you start your engine? Or, do you just use the small power pack exclusively that continuously gets charged once you start the engine? Perhaps I didn’t catch that part or understand when you explained it. I’m planning on buying that same scanner in about a month despite its $700 price on Amazon. I have a Uniden Bearcat 355N and a Bearcat BCT7 but both are only analog and are pretty much useless in my area where I live in Houston,Tx. Nice video! Good job! ~Jim WRXY695~

This reminds me of when I was in High School and hacked the dash of my '72 Nova and installed a Pioneer KP-500 where the factory radio went. I like what you said about trying everything before you button it up; when you don't it will never work on the first try :D

hey this was a great guide, thank you so much. i was wondering though. what if we want to use a GPS tracker that directly connects to the OBD-II port? how would we be able to sync the GPS with the SDS200? i'd settle for a GPS tracker that can connect directly to the RJ11 port just to make life easier, but it seems as though the best car GPS trackers on the market all connect directly to the OBD-II port, and they have no external wires. If you or anyone know a great GPS tracker that can connect to the RJ11 port, I'd love to know. Thank you all <3 :)
