Question. I have the pro dash went away for a month so disconnected battery. Came back to connected battery car started right up but my pro dash just has the top lights light up then goes out and the screen is black / blank. Have you had these issues or no where I should look
@RecycledRacing12 күн бұрын
Every once and a while mine will freeze the screen when driving, or fail to boot up. I just recycle the key and it's usually fine. Double check your connections as always.
@Moore25712 күн бұрын
@@RecycledRacing I’ve cycled it multiple times 20-30 times. Connections are all good and are all soldered. Mine use to not come on every 1 out of 6 times then cycled and it would be good. Now nothing and the only thing I did was disconnected the battery then reconnected 🤷♂️ my 3.5” screen works fine so I know it’s not the holley efi.

Yes! You MUST use the sensor ground pin for your fuel gauge, or it won't read correct. I made that mistake also. I realized something was wrong with my fuel gauge when the automatic dimming of the display would brighten and dim down. The fuel gauge would also vary by about 1/4 of a tank. I then ran the fuel sender ground directly to the dash it was fixed. As far as ride height sensors, I used the Ford Expedition. Lincoln Navigator sensors from a You-Pull-It yard. Cost $7 each with the connectors. They are small, have built in bolt mount holes and use a ball joint type of connecting rod. The sensors have a short 3.5" total swing, so I lengthened the arm to get a total of 6" of suspension travel. 0-5 volts.

@@RecycledRacing that's actually what I'm more excited about than the car running. Lol. I like to tinker with electronics and see what all I can do with them. I am curious if I can feed my trans temp gauge to the screen, I just don't know the ohms to make it work and the wire is like a 22 gauge.

which intake is that? I cannot find any options for a CAI to the passenger side, once again I will be following your lead on this
@RecycledRacing3 ай бұрын
That is a 99-06 silverado amazon intake. I used a 4" 90 degree coupler to space it out from the motor some and get around the tensioner. There may be enough room with the boot it came with, I just wanted it to be straighter (OCD) The heat shield was cut up and pieces welded together to make the "box"

I understand the purpose of the solenoid but wouldn't the breaker eliminate any of the risk associated w/ that 1/0 wire being hot at all time? I'm planning my build and debating if I go with the added complexity of the solenoid. Oh and why did you run a separate 4g wire for the distribution block. Couldn't that have been shared with the alternator feed? Also, thanks for you service 🫡
@RecycledRacing3 ай бұрын
In terms of function, yes. The breaker would essentially trip if something happened to that wire. I didn't want to worry about it. I have had things happen and damage be done before the breaker tripped. The solenoid removes it from being a constant hot wire. You can't feed to the fuse box from the alternator. When you turn off the car the alternator will keep it running. David freiburger explains this better on roadkill garage on his f-rod wiring video.
@stevemullin74723 ай бұрын
@@RecycledRacing I just found the video. His design seems to be related to making sure shut off switch effectively kills the fuse panel. I'm not sure I have that problem in my design. Gives me something to think through though.
@RecycledRacing3 ай бұрын
@stevemullin7472 I used to run the positive cable up to the starter lug and brach off from there. On two different vehicles, after racing a bunch, the lug rotated and made contact with the starter body. One started a fire. I had one car blow a freeze plug, and the coolant somehow made that electrical connection to short put that line. Only one tripped a breaker. I saw his video, and I really liked not having that wire hot all the time. I still have two hot wires going through the car, but they are smaller and well protected. It's kind of an experience based personal preference. And I usually overkill an area I have issues in.

when wiring up fuel level sensor , one wire goes to the pin 21 for input. does the other wire go to sensor ground on the dash input or chassis ground? thank you
@RecycledRacing3 ай бұрын
The only way I could get my dash to read accurately was to ground to the sensor ground pin26 I think it was. Even then, it's still slightly off. Since that is a ground circuit, its path has to be from where your sending unit gets it's ground, and go to the holley sensor ground.

Your approach is sensible. This is almost identical to the work im doing on my GTO . I opted for new inner rockers because I needed to replace the floor braces.. good work!
@RecycledRacing3 ай бұрын
If I had to do it again, I would have just replaced the entire floor as a whole unit. It would have taken time to remove the old floor, but save me time and have been a much nicer end result.

The HMI kit is much better
@RecycledRacing3 ай бұрын
I think you're referring to the HPI cust9ms kit? I selected the kit I did because it ties the rear suspension pickup points into the frame. None of the other brace kits do that. They tie into the frame just forward of the LCA mounts. But everyone has their favorites. I can say at speed that I have zero body roll or flex, and this car just rotates. Great part of my package.
