You can always open up the back of the unit and hardwire a AC cord into it. That is finding where the AC output pins are and then soldering on a permanent AC cord out. That's a solution that will work if you need to plug it in. Otherwise you're going to be really hard to find that really tiny Sony specific AC cord plug. I don't remember on this model, but does it have a DC Port as well? If so, you could use a high-powered DC adapter that fits into the round Port if this has it and power it that way. On the top of the radio, just to the right of the cassette deck controls is a selector switch for tape or radio. If it's on tape it's in the off position. If you're not playing a tape, if you select it from tape to radio either AM or FM that's turning on the radio either AM or FM understand? If it does not power on with the power adapter, you may have the polarity reversed on your DC input plug. I ran mine on batteries. If you're if yours does not power up on batteries, then you have issues. If you're using a DC adapter and it's the wrong polarity then it won't work and if someone used it prior to you and use the wrong polarity on the DC Port, it may not work ever. If it doesn't work on batteries then you'll need to open it up and find out just what is wrong with the circuit board as far as the polarity and all that. Hope this helps you. Well you got good use out of it then. Deoxit is what I would spray into the controls to make the scratchiness go away but if the controls are simply worn then it may be difficult to replace those parts.

@@nikko0777I have no idea what that graphic means, I do not think it is a (H) but simply part of the graphics that somebody applied to this unit. as there is nothing on the model number from the manufacturer denoting any difference from the standard model.

Sounds like it needs to have it servicing cleaned all the switches specifically service the recording bar switch as all your music goes through it all your source material and if you never record with this unit then that recording bar switch never moves and therefore it can get corroded in position.

Give me that depends upon which grilled model 85 85 you have that is if you have the open grill where you can see the speaker versus the one that doesn't have the open grill where you cannot see the speaker. For me the open grilled model sounds better than the waffle grilled model. I think the sharp has better bass than the 5100 model
