Why would you use Lidar on lenses that are already autofocus?

Your video says "Full menu operation" -- yet you literally pressed the button that says Menu and said everything under the menu was self-explanatory. Since I specifically was looking to understand the setting under menu that says "Sync" vs the item on the screen that says "Sync," I find this really puzzling.

@Luiscameraman2 ай бұрын
Kinda, you can connect the camera and use as a webcam and stream via OBS or MS teams, etc. in that case u need a laptop. But you can also shoot and upload rushes directly to blackmagic cloud from the camera via a cell phone. I have used the camera in both situations and it's great. On a recent job, I sent proxies to an editor from the set, with the cell phone by the time we wrapped for the day the editor has a first cut of the project and we send to the client that evening. 🎥🎬

I have been testing a new lens, but it's just not reliable if the lens does not have hard stops 😔. Like I got it to work with the sigma art 35 1.4 and it was keeping focus at 1.4, but I de-rigged the gimbal and added the lense again and the focus kept being just a tad off, like back focusing. With the samyag manual lenses with hard stops works well and is easy to reset with a new lens, so far I tried 50mm 1.8, 85mm 1.8 and both work well, sadly I don't own a 24mm or a 35 on those manual lenses so haven't been able to test them.

Same sensor, but a better thermal design than the pocket. Blackmagic's goal was to meet a time to market deadline while keeping the cost under $3K. Adding an articulated screen and built-in NDs would have changed the body design, added weight, increased cost, and would have pushed the time to market out too far. Dan May has already hinted at developing more Pyxis models in the future.

It’s a mistake to characterize this as “composing”. It’s more fair to compare the transition that was made from real instruments to synthesized instruments. This is synthetic compositions. It’s emulating real composers but it’s lacking the emotional backbone that comes from a human composition. A composer might be able to use some of what’s generated as starting seeds, or it may be good enough as background music where the emotion is derived from the actors, but as a standalone piece, if it works at all, it will only be because it stole music ideas made by real composers with real emotion to make a shadow of the original work. The problem is most of the listening audience of today may not have the capability to discern the difference simply because so much of the current music out there does essentially the same thing as the software - steals the same tropes from every other piece of popular music that they might be incapable of telling the difference. There is original music out there, but as long as the lawyers and mba’s keep saying “give me something just like what made me money before…”, music will continue towards the generic, common place, predictable, artificial emotion, and any music generating software they try to develop will inevitably follow suit.

Yeah totally agree, I think there is a and will always be a debate if AI is good or bad for a certain industry. IMO for copywriting jobs, AI is very capable of that job, like to a decent standard, saving money and time in a production. is this bad or good? I think it depends on who you're asking that to. Going back to the music created by Udio, it is not perfect by any means, but this is the worst it will ever be and that's a scary thought to have.

Yeah, with the current setup and the lack of ability to manually set end point. I would not risk using on a job... There is plenty of things to keep in mind as it is on shoots. If the equipment doesn't perform 100% right. In my opinion is not worth the stress it could create in the middle of a shoot. If you have manual cinema glass with hard stops it works perfectly.

Yeah, I use the Bluetooth app sometimes when doing multicam interviews, but for your setup I think for Ur better off using a Blackmagic Micro Studio Camera 4K G2 , as that's designed for live production, and has wired control via SDI or HDMI. You can then use a switcher to remotely control all parameters including zoom.

Not sure you understood the point of the video. I also have a set of primes and it works fine with them, as I say in the video, but, it would be very good if we could manually set endpoint allowing us to use also zoom lenses that haven't got hard stops. Totally agree with you …. It’s a fantastic surprise for me and I use it with Lens THAT HAVEN’T HARD STOP 😊
@binaryinfections6 ай бұрын
research would have avoided your regret. I think that the lidar is a great system. those small rig lens rings aren't worth it and contribute to bad calibration as well. when the focus motor starts calibration, they will move ever so slightly as well. the end stop options are great but not with those fitted rings as they lift them up from there contact on the lens hence the skipping. I would use those Endstops with a belt that is adjustable so you can tighten on the lens with the plastic end stops and make sure it doesnt move at all for a better system,
@Luiscameraman6 ай бұрын
Hey 👋, I own a few of those belt gear systems, I have the one that came with the Ronin and I have other brands, they actually aren't tighter than the small right rig ones, as they come in the diameter of your lens and they are made of a hard ruber so the fit very tight and don'ts slip. The issue is with the force of the grear against the lens, for the skipping teeth problem. You can see in the video that exactly. The second issue is the hard stop does not work if the gear ⚙️ is skipping. The lidar work fine on my cine lenses. From my testing I think the solution is to find a way to mount the focus motor with two points connected to the camera instead of the one rod, that should prevent the gear from skipping even on lenses with adapters.

@Luiscameraman6 ай бұрын
Hi interesting question. I think your issue might be with the sink speed or flash power. When you say that the photos don't come up in the camera do you mean they are black photos? Or the camera is actually not taking any photos when connected to the flash?
