I was 15... and hyped! We knew the " get back " for St. Louis being in Greensboro would be trouble for them, but...what a war. Thought it would be easier.

I haven't read any comments, I haven't watched the game, yet. I don't know, for sure, who won this game, but I have an idea. Thanks Basketball VHS archives. I am about to enjoy an old school basketball game with some of the greatest of all time, in it.

Remember this day vividly. I was eight years old and had my front teeth broken from a hockey stick earlier in the day. Watched this game while convalescing in discomfort.

RIP Bill Walton. I didn't watch him play much in his NBA career, but I did see this game in 1974, when I was a little kid but I was rooting against him in this game because my fav was David Thompson of North Carolina State. I still remember this game, I watched it at the local YMCA/YWCA. My mother was a director there so we had free passes. It was a great facility for kids. At the time of this game UCLA had won like 88 games straight and many NCAA Championships. They were seen as invincible, but David Thompson had something to say about it. Back then there was a rule against college players dunking the ball, so David Thompson created what was called the alley hoop, I think it was pronounced! It was a game for the ages!

Εξαιρετικός και χωρίς τις γνωστές υπερβολές άλλων, ο εκφωνητής του αγώνα. Πάντα μου άρεσαν οι μεταδόσεις του αν και μου διαφεύγει το όνομα του.

Talk about home cooking --- 38 free throws to 7.... The umpiring was terrible!!.. It was very clear that those umpires were intimidated by the large crowd, so many fouls called against Australia that were clearly not fouls. Greece did play well though, and up to that game had probably been the best team in the tournament, just such a shame the umpires did not allow Australia to compete. Also very disappointing to see the bad sportsmanship from the Greek players at the end of the game, ignoring Aussie players trying to congratulate them and shake their hands. The Greek players just wanted to run around the court with their flag instead of stopping for a few seconds to show some respect to their opposition. Hopefully the Greek players learnt to do that in their senior careers...
