I've been up potting my Anthurium with success! Next, I need to get my Monstera into Pon and my Bird of Paradise in water so it can enjoy the semi-hydro life too. Pon is working great for me with LECA reservoirs in straight glass vases. I know you're moving away from it but I'm my house... It's working! And this is all about experimentation so I keep a close eye. I find I need to run my humidifier more in the summer because the A/C dries the air here in Tucson. We use less heat in the winter... Oh, and I'm Neem Oil cleaning my plants like crazy. Knock wood, I'm still pest free. Thanks for another helpful video! 💚

If it works, it WORKS! Everyone’s potting media shouldn’t be the same😁💗

Excellent tips. I didn’t even think of the sanitation situation but that’s such a good point. Luv the video…as alwaysssss❤❤❤🪴🪴🪴

I’m guilty of being lazy with sanitizing my sheers and have paid the consequences. So now I make it a habit😁

Living in south Asia, normally I used catch plates and add coco chunks on top of my plants to sustain moisture. I also water more often as it's extremely hot. Good video

Great idea! Our growing media absolutely should depend on environmental factors and growing conditions 😄

Great advice Jake 👍 Something I've noticed ( stemming from outdoor plants cycles) Summer growth is all about new leaves. I had to stop giving my established indoor plants nutrients like root zone that encourages rooting, taking away the signal to send energy to the top growth.
@plantgayforlifeКүн бұрын
Good call! Rooting hormones and nutrients are great to get a plant started or when repotting but then we gotta let the plant decide what to do cuz it knows best!😊

I FORBID YOU TO BUY A QUEEN. I’m saving you from incessant migraines and heart ache. Grow some other anthuriums first. So many others are easier and more rewarding.

Hahaha! I was wondering why you were so inspired by this disaster of a video. But growing anthuriums in vases has been VERY successful for me. And I grow them all in ambient.

We just got a water softener to protect our pipes! So I will have to add back Cal Mag (and maybe do something about possible higher levels of Sodium) 🤦♀️ Glad to hear Baloanchium section Anthuriums make easy houseplants. I only have a decipiens, but it looks really similar to brownii. It just put out a gargantuan leaf nearly 3 ft/ 1 metre long - almost double the size of the last one. It grows like a beast and I have to up pot it now because we’ve moved to a bigger place and I want to see how large I can grow it. Want a Tom Croat-style selfie under it some day! It has been so trouble free in the less than one year I’ve had it. I think it’s like the Anthurium version of the Monstera deliciosa in terms of statement plant vibes. You and Charmaine have inspired me to grow some plants in no drainage glass vessels - loving the look and easier watering so far. So reassuring to know flushing isn’t as big a deal as I have been a bit concerned about that. Lol that outro though 😂😂❤❤
@plantgayforlife2 күн бұрын
Great to hear! Decipiens is beautiful, and yes very similar looking to brownii and other section belolonchium anthuriums. And I totally agree about them being the “monsteras” of anthuriums! They really can make a statement in a collection!!

you know, thank you for this video because I have been trying to research this and not finding definitive answers. So that clears up the question I had about a recent purchase, it was sold as besseae but it obviously besseae aff. I'm fine with that, it is sexy AF, but I like to have a proper ID.

lol fr i feel like besseae aff was kinda underated and considered mid too, but i feel a little buzz and hype on them now maybe cause it look like a little like carla who is the totally the girl of the moment lol
@plantgayforlife2 күн бұрын
I was referring to true Besseae being mid. Besseae Aff is stunning. Carla is very beautiful but looks way too similar to a crystallinum for me to justify its hype.

Love that you’re doing outdoor gardening too. I also outdoor garden. Brunneras are so beautiful and also remind me of anthurium. We get so many slugs I’ve given up on Hostas. You might like to check out Hosta Empress Wu. She HUUUGE! So nice to see your lovely mum on a video! Not to mention the sweet pup, That Clematis is divine and the moss aesthetic is beautiful.
