+6969SpAcE6969 If you look at the spectrum of tools used in ship design, engineering, and construction you tend to find a lot of overlap but each came from one of the parts in the process specifically and has strengths in that are. For example, Maxsurf is a tool traditionally used for the initial design portion of the project including analysis. They have capabilities for basic design but it is not an engineering or construction tool. Orca3D (Rhino plug-in) is focused specifically on design and analysis. NAPA is used for both initial and basic design including analysis.ShipConstructor starts as early as the basic design and has strong capability for creating class approval drawings, taking the hull designed in these other tools and doing production level fairing, plate and shell expansion, forming templates and much more based on that hull shape. Of course then ShipConstructor takes over for all modeling of internal structure, mechanical systems and production output (drawings, as well as nests and NC-code for production automation).ShipConstructor can take a hull form in many formats (IGES as the most neutral) but can directly import a Rhino 3dm file, and Maxsurf can create a number of native ShipConstructor formats (or a 3dm file) directly.
