My mother's second husband was horrible and would bash my mum for no reason at all. We hated going to visit her as our dad had custody of her 3 eldest, I hated Bob. He would pull our hair hard so our heads moved and laugh at us. He was particularly cruel to my brother. He died in the early 80s from lung cancer and he would lay on the lounge and couldn't move as he was sick. I didn't really understand what cancer was but I knew he couldn't get up to hurt us anymore. I stood and laughed at him as he couldn't touch us anymore. To hate someone so much is not good but I hated them both. My mother never protected me. My grandmother on my dads side raised me and I thank God every day. Later in my life I had an abusive violent ex partner and I'm happy that I broke free from him. I always think I will hear one day on the news that he will harm someone else. It is hard for some women to get away and they need help and support. Don't ever judge and just support and love them.

Crap now I am in love with Mariska Hargitay. Also I really like this format. The regular formatted shows can be really emotionally jarring. This seemed smoother tho still powerful.

We are truly fortunate that Dr. Mann has illuminated the issue of global warming and has stood up against the assault on climate scientists who stand for the truth! Many thanks to Dr. Mann for helping us get to solutions to slow the ocean acidification and climate emergency!

Amy had so many people, law, events and chances for help. What is the percentage of spousal killings when one actually leaves? Knowing you will be killed is a major deciding factor in hesitating to leave.

This story is so sad and one that I am very familiar with. I would be so sad when people around me told me, I would never tolerate this. Never say that to someone who is in this situation, only show support. You never know what they are actually dealing with.

My husband and I were walking though Central Park, and saw a younger man and woman screaming in each other's faces. I walked up to them, and said, "Excuse me, could you tell me where we can find (this place.)" They very politely began to explain where the place was, and after we walked away, they did not continue to the angry fight. It obviously didn't solve their problem, but for them moment, it made them pause, and it interrupted their desire to fight.

If you ever find yourself in this situation, do NOT put yourself anywhere near the abuser after you break up, whether you think they're there or not. The risk of homicide increases 75% upon the break up and lasts for months, it's the red zone. Do not make this mistake, do not think they won't do it, because when an abuser, who is not mentally sound, none of them are, loses control, they will do whatever it takes to regain it. He prob still thinks he's in control because he took her life. As illogical as that sounds to us, you can't use logic with the illogical and the only way to beat crazy is to get crazy yourself.

My story was so close to ending this, getting beat twice a week, lying about black eyes, broken nose, can’t tell you how many times a loaded gun was held to my head 😭😭, people say why didn’t you leave, well he had told me if I do he’d kill me and my family. I was scared to death!!! Once I left, it took a long time to feel safe, he was always right around the corner, one time jumping out of his truck, grabbing me by the hair and dragging me away.. 40 years later I still have ptsd

I am a domestic violence survivor. I suffered a concussion, had an injury that required 24 stitches to reattach the end of my finger, a broken vertebrae, black eyes, and my children were sexually abused by their father. NO ONE HELPED ME TO PROTECT MY CHILDREN OR MYSELF. i really think the only way that assaults against children and women will ever stop is to do away with domestic violence terms and policies. The question is what would the criminal justice system do if a stranger perpetrated these actions? If a stranger or a neighbor assaulted or harrassed the victim the consequences are much harsher. TREAT THESE PERPETRATORS OF ABUSE AS THE CRIMINALS THEY ARE. THSI IS THE ONLY WAY IT WILL STOP.

I enjoyed the story. I can relate because I am a part of a community theater in Newnan, Georgia. It is a wonderful place to escape your day job and to be playfully creative. Props to you. I agree that the theater does so much for the local community. It is wonderful to see your neighbors doing something they love in a supportive and generous environment. Shout out to Newnan Theater Company.

Not a lot of women customers at a hardware store geez that must've been so galling to have to deal with someone so immature especially in front of your co workers. She seemed to have nice supportive coworkers which is rare. I went through abuse and on more than one occasion and between two different work places the women were laughing and judging, only one women showed me support and even went out of her way to buy my daughters Christmas presents one year when I had a black eye before Christmas. The other women found it funny. I brought that one woman with me to a new work place where she is well taken care of, but yeah women can be awful to other women. Getting out of an abusive situation isn't as easy as everyone on the outside makes it seem. In some places (apartments) you face eviction if you even dare call the cops for help.
