Im 65 years old and learned something new. I have been around all sorts of wheeled vehicles but this was an unknown to me. As a machinist/welder/mechanic I sat totally engrossed in your video. That machine that holds the wires is a work of art. I never would have guessed what it was for. Thank you! Cheers Terry

Very good vidio I enjoy the blacksmithing. I would like to see how long it would take a modern shop to put that square hole in the flat bar😊

Dave, why didn’t you capture the brake handle like a wagon has? Is it because of the intrusion into the walking space?

Hmm, I always thought that 4 ft piece of Black Malibu steel pipe along side my vice, was a factory extension that came with the vice? I often wondered why they didn't put rubber grips on the end??? hmm ECF

That press you have seems to be one of the most useful tools in your workshop, although it certainly needs your skills to use it well. Another excellent video, as always. I always learn something useful from them, even if I'm NOT in the wagon trade!

That pitman arm made out wood is a trip for me sir... I driven semi's for 30 years and the pitman arm is made of very thick 1 3/4 inch steel rod for the entire steering mechanism in the front end ... but a wooden one is something else sir ... any ways your stuff always looks wonderful and amazing to me and I enjoy the channel alot .. keep up diligent work you already so much do each and every week ... God bless until next time sir

Maybe they used a dedicated die and punch set to punch out the brake bar ! Punching a hole first might make it easier to clear out the teeth.

Hello. Can I ask you what was the mixture you put between the two metal plates before forging them together. Was it magnesium?

Time is how these penatrents work. Especially when the part isn't capable of taking much heat. To actually test em, soak the one side a week or more before you have any intention to take the components apart.

I have been watching you since day one and I gotta say, your skills are off the hook Not only in your craft but your video editing as well. I'm in media school and we use Adobe premiere and I am nowhere near as good as you are unless u have someone else editing your videos' for you, then that changes things. Lol. I am sure I speak for everyone here, what's going on with the old apartment building?

Hello David, I love your forging and machining operations. You have some interesting tools and equip. I know you didn't get them all at the same time but it sure is handy to have them available. I wish MT were closer. We had friends living in West Yellowstone but they moved 15 years ago. I'd dreamed of taking a train to Oregon/Washington/Glacier, etc. until I priced out the train tickets....... Ouch!

In my opinion, the reason that Pitman [arm] is made of wood is likely because it was accepted that it would wear out relatively quickly. If there's a storage box anywhere on that wagon, my bet is it would usually carry a spare Pitman. If you agree, might as well make a spare now.

how clever is that? I'm amazed sometimes how we've lost some of the problem-solving skills over time. Today, a design of this sort would require countless design hours, followed by committee review, impact studies to determine if it would affect associated systems, and finally, an environmental impact. All of this before Quality Assurance would approve it! Very cool!
