Can you tell me when are you using oil or moebius grease to lubricate the pallet fork ? I heard t depends on the speed of the movement ?
@FrenchWatchCollectorКүн бұрын
Yes epecially for the higher beat caliber you need to use the grease 9415
@mercuriall281023 сағат бұрын
The 9415 grease was originally designed and marketed for use in high beat movements, and it’s important to use it when servicing them. 941 oil simply won’t remain in place if used on high beat movements. It turns out that 9415 also works extremely well in slower beat movements, too. Moebius now states that it is suitable for all Swiss lever escapements, regardless of beat rate. So you can use 9415 for all pallet jewels. 9415 also works well for lubricating cylinder escapements, it is very versatile. Moebius 941 should only be used on slower beat movements (21,600 or less). If you have Moebius 941 already, then use it on slower beat movements. If you haven’t bought either product yet, I recommend you just buy some 9415 and use it exclusively for escapement lubrication.

@@FrenchWatchCollector The poor man’s Rolex. I wore my Willard daily for 15 years until it was so scratched up you couldn’t see what time it was and put it in the back of my sock drawer.Then I bought another Seiko and did the same thing. Then about 4 years ago I was watching Wrist Watch Revival on KZfaq and he was working on an old Seiko Divers watch,and dam if it didn’t look like mine. I went and dug around my drawer and there it was the same exact model. That got me motivated to get it restored so I sent it to Seiko in New Jersey. When they got it I received an e-mail saying they could do the work but didn’t have a crystal for it as it was an out of production model. Dam! So I had them send it back untouched. I ended up sending it to a watch repair place in California and they did the work.Now I wear my old friend every once in a while,don’t want it to get beat up. My daily watch is an Apple Watch Ultra,it motivates me to get more exercise and gives good time,but it’s not as classy as my old 6105.

This is probably a dumb question, but I’ll ask it anyway. Wouldn’t plastic tools (instead of metal) be better for avoiding scratching anything? If not, why is metal used so much?

Plastic will not be strong enough. After like my brass tweezers it is soft enough
