Very compelling yet kind of depressing song...you can hear the emotion in the singers voice . He states when your last hours are upon you... ..and you don't believe in something after your demise ie : don't believe the sun will rise. ( the afterlife) you stand alone and face the coming night : death. In the last renaming light. ... Cornell sung this with such passion and emotion it just fits with what he is trying to get across here... waiting and praying ..a very c ommon religious theme is sung here .. .... just Wow . that is all...

Love this song! One of the best, but a friend (who loves music, but doesn't know who from who) pointed out to me that this song was similar to the "Doors". Not a fan of them, but he is correct!
