This is how we mixed the white coat back in my day as a plasterer. However we used a much larger mortar board, as a rule 4 to 5 feet square. We also mixed much larger batches. We would use quick set gauging plaster, but also used a retarder in order to slow the set long enough to allow or using the large amount mixed. We would mix enough to do the entire ceiling of the room, and about half way down the walls. A scaffold would be built for the entire area. There would as a rule be enough mixed to do the bottom sections of the walls from the previous mix after the scaffolding had been removed. We used both the hawks and the trowels for the mixing.

You’re legit old school plasterer! A lotta journeyman plasterers now don’t have a clue about what you just described. I can remember gaugings big enough to keep five or six plasterers moving! They don’t know the mixes or nothing 🤷🏻‍♂️ . Everything comes pre mixed in a bag now just add water. Even the stucco.

We're being shown an abandoned chimney with a sheet-metal cap. This is not a functioning chimney. If a fire is being lit in a fireplace below, then it doesn't have adequate draw to get rid of the smoke.

This is a decorative chimney. I am publishing on my site the reason for the stucco failing, that is, peeling off is because of the EIFS bands. The EIFS bands absorb water, particularly when they are level and not pitched down for water to run away from the building. The woodpecker holes are made by woodpeckers finding insect larvae in the wet lumber underneath. Note the screw holes are leaking and saturating the foam EIFS bands. Reggie, Very helpful video on How to remove EIFS. How much (broad estimate is fine) should I expect to pay for removal and disposal of 2000 sq ft of EIFS? Thanks in advance!

I work for myself ( no helpers) and stay busy , but i am slowly winding down and i now live on a boat , life is good . Can you confirm please that I use dry plaster sand and dry cement powder mixed up with the smallest amount of water then smear on wall , let dry 30 mins before throwing the pebbel dash on? I have a small area I need to repair , thank you

Pebble dash mix. 1 cement 1 lime 5 rendering sand. Good luck doing big walls mixing by hand. Gear will be awful to use too.
