6:20 hippos and mooses make better examples. Hippos may be herbivores but _they will eat you._ Both are basically megafauna and don't have much in the way of predators but they're still highly aggressive. Those are also the two responsible for the top three reasons humans keep perishing. Then there's camels. Those are *hate* with legs. 7:10 cassowaries and emus. Two major reminders of dinosaurs still being very much around. Once saw two emus in a cage in a travelling zoo. Reminded me of a Hammond journal from Trespasser. The one about raptors pacing against the backwall before noticing they were being watched. The things kept pecking at the lock of their cage. Sometimes they would pick up some straw or a stick and try to fit it into the lock, occasionally working together to figure it out. Whenever someone would come over to the cage they would stare directly into the person's face and wait for them to look away to go back to pecking at the lock. They were slowly figuring out how to pick locks. I do wonder if they eventually figured it out.

I loved the "Blue Velvet" soundbite. Dennis Hopper was the greatest, wasn't he? Just an amazing actor who lived an incredibly chaotic but magical life. May he rest in peace.

It's honestly pretty funny to think that the membrane wings which has become go-to stapple for flying and gliding tetrapods alike ended up being sort of an evolutionary dead end for dinosaur lineage while the feather-winged ones succeeded Nature truly worked in a mysterious way

Yeah, I was about to comment "hell creek had a lot of testy herbivores too, triceratops probably would have the same amount of chill as a rhino or bull" before you brought it up.

While countershading certainly applies to both modern and prehistoric animals, I feel it's important to emphasize just to what extent modern animals should be utilized as a analog. Just because tigers have orange and black stripes and are top predators today doesn't mean that Mesozoic predators should look this way. There are paleo artists who have taken this to the extreme. For example, the giant panda is a taxonomically carnivorous mammal adapted to an herbivorous diet. Therizinosaurs and pandas both share a carnivorous ancestry that transitioned into herbivory. This shouldn't suggest the former would have black and white coloration. It sounds ridiculous but I've met paleo artists who operate under this same logic.
