Are you selling this kit?😊
@garethjohnstone9282Ай бұрын
Mate, can you list the things you upgraded over the baseline kit, please? Thanks.
@GearheadsAutofabАй бұрын
Ok, you mentioned you blew up at around 450 chp. The thing is the turbo kits mostly use stock headers and small piping to be able to fit in the limited space. This make the back pressure really high, mine was 32psi back pressure at 15 psi boost, so…..the most gains I got where from going to a good header and back bigger pre turbo piping and better merge collector to reduce back pressure. Also the tuning is super important, cam angle can create massive low end torque and break the motor between 3000-5000 rpm, so I took 50 torque out of the spool up area using cam angle and timing to prevent motor failure. So far it’s working I’m at 525hp now still on my 160k motor 2 years in to boosting. You can always email me if you boost again and need anything. [email protected]
@garethjohnstone9282Ай бұрын
@GearheadsAutofab Thanks for the reply. The turbo kit I had was a twin turbo from a company called Power Enterprise. It came with its own manifolds and it was straight through exhaust, manifold back. I sold that car because after I bought a fully uprated bottom end package, it just kept overheating so the garage replaced all cooling components. Didn't solve it. The guy I sold it to, took the motor apart and notified me the garage I had fit the new bottom end, etc, hadn't replaced the head gasket, he re-used the old one despite me supplying a full kit. Spent a fortune, sold on cheap as faulty because of an old coot too proud to admit he forgot to change the head gasket. This rev9 looks like a good cheap entry point to actually get it FI, then upgraded from there. Your videos and info will be really valuable as I upgrade it. Tuning cars here in the UK is very expensive, especially turbo conversions, and I'm not mechanically minded so I have to rely on others. So your vids will help and I'll be sure to drop you an email. 520whp is crazy. It must be one of the highest power stock 350z's.
@garethjohnstone9282Ай бұрын
Is there anything else you can upgrade on these kits, or add on? Seem like a good base kit.

Hey so I heard from a friend you made 680hp on Honda b18 Nippon cast pistons and rods. And it’s been going 3 years strong. I’m curious on some things, Was it whp or hp? Also what % difference is who to hp ? Isn’t it about 20% I have an open deck b18 Nippon rods and pistons my goal is 700hp crank, mainly a track car, but the occasional cruises
@GearheadsAutofab2 ай бұрын
Yes 670 and it was only limited because I couldn’t get it to make more boost on the dyno. Yes it’s wheel hp I only have a in ground roller dyno that test at the wheels. But all dyno numbers are very slightly so numbers are not super important. The biggest thing is that I cut the piston ring gap big and because the Nippon piston has lower compression it takes a bit more boost to make power, however it takes the pressure off the part of the block that usually cracks. So far I have lots of dyno testing and 3 track days on it and a little street driving and it’s still fresh and running grate. Also I made 450 on 93 pump gas and ran it at the track in 100 deg weather a it still didn’t break. I do think it’s the cheapest setup at this power level I’ve ever done. Car went 11:1 on 450hp on the hot day

Nice. Is this still running the stock plenum? I remember a long time ago there were some discussion about the stock plenum having too long of a runner so it's hinder hp at high RPM. I think there was a company called Kintex that made a stainless steel plenum that was supposed to address that.

Grate idea, I thought the same thing , way back in one of the first vids on the turbo kit I upgraded from the eBay t3 60-1 turbo to a $2000 precision ball bearing 62/66 turbo …..turns out that it didn’t help allot until changing most of the rest of the turbo manifold parts. Even a grate turbo couldn’t do its job with a restricted manifold. Also Garette is awesome as well.

@fernandohood55424 ай бұрын
Yes. There is a guy who makes a kit with vband headers. VFP tuning. Corky Bell's book would have put you on the right track. Measuring back pressure verses boost pressure would have revealed it all. What clutch are you using? 15 pounds of boost is a lot. A better choice of turbo and intercooler core will give you even better results.

I think the biggest impact was Headers, Ported v pipe / crossover pipe But you will have to make a new down pipe to fit headers. They won’t fit on the original kit

There just isn't room to fit the optimum size tube for the up pipe, so some incremental improvements in flow are possible with the merge and wastegate, but the limit is close because of that up pipe size limit.
@StreetHeem5 ай бұрын
what’s the optimum size for the uppipe? 2.75” or 3”? I thought it was best to keep the size the same as the exhaust inlet.
@Scoots19945 ай бұрын
@@StreetHeem 3" would be optimal, into a turbine housing that can handle it. That's for peak power though. With the 2.5" used here it becomes a back pressure issue at peak revs, as does the T3 flange. But anything below 500hp the smaller tubing helps spool.
