Phil, as usual you go all out when you build a kit even if it’s not that wonderful. I think you do amazing work. That’s one of the reasons why I like modeling and watching your shows thank you.

I've made enough rubbish kits over the years not to be bothering with junk like that Halifax. Life's too short.

Just got this kit ordered and very excited, when I was growing up my dad was stationed at Willow Grove and I saw the Diamond Backs A-4's in low vis paint. I plan on doing this one in high vis and my Hasegawa kit in low vis.

I bet as soon as you finish it, someone will release a new kit lol. Question..... how will you do the glazing below the cockpit? or is it already glazed? It looks tricky, I can't quite tell.

Looks fantastic. Will definitely go nicely with my Australian gear. Only thing missing in 72nd is, of course, that C-17. Now, that would be a beauty with it, plus a Bush Master or 2.

@ 6:17 they are not grab handles, they are some bit of “Fairy” kit that only the Avionics techies can understand what they do/did, and just for info you are quite correct that in tech speak the Chinook doesn’t have a collective lever, and it doesn’t have a power lever, it does however have a thrust lever, the cyclic lever is just that and the rudder bar is called a set of yaw pedals, as I said it’s just for info, and we, the techies, still called it a collective lever. When I build my kit I will be doing it in the Falkland Islands 🇫🇰 war livery, I think that is the best way to honour BN, and all those service personnel/merchant marine and civilians who were injured or killed during the war, and you can do her even more justice by leaving the co-pilots door off, which in helicopters is usually the port (left) side looking forward from the cockpit, it either fell off or was broken and removed (my memory is not what it was), and it was only replaced after the Argentinian surrender when a replacement was quietly “Robbed” from an Argentinian Chinook that was captured. The “Toe ramps” that I think you called “fingers” didn’t have any detail on the, unlike the main cabin floor and the ramp itself the toe ramps only had a non-slip coating, a coating that was NOT non-slip most of the time.

There might be loads of plumbing... but in 1982 it was completely covered up with grey plastic panelling with service hatches in it. This is the post 1990s look. The cabin was also completely quilted from below the windows across the roof, and had lots of detail, lights, panels etc. *All missing here.* As is any hint of ceiling to the rear cabin, below the fin, or panelling & apu that should be there. The blade droop is massively overdone too. Solid seats are v bad, which would have been a little better if they moulded the slots on the back face. External surfaces look generally OK though for the scale. Queue apologists..... Have you worked on BN though & was it in 1982?

@@jameswoollard84, How do you know that if you don’t mind me asking?, BN was in service for a considerable period after her return from the Falkland Islands 🇫🇰 war, and so many “Techies” would have passed through her during that time, it is quite possible that @memkill did indeed work on her. Just to be clear though the missing details that @memkill pointed out are correct, and it was 1982 that she survived the war and in particular the sinking of the Atlantic Convayor, she then went through the campaign minus a cockpit door that was only replaced after the Argentinian 🇦🇷 surrender, it was quietly “robbed” of one of the captured Argentinian Chinooks.

@@jameswoollard84 I have spent many years working on 718 and many hours flying in it as it was on my Sqn. I started on the HC1 in 1983 and have been involved with them up to the Mk6. @memkill's comments on the whole are correct but my guess is that he(? ) probably didn't work on them as some of the terminology used is slightly incorrect, for instance 'quilting' is called 'soundproofing', we have a 'cabin roof'. not ceiling and the 'fin' is the Aft pylon'. but overall a good effort. If you want to get really pedantic with the build you could include the brass plaque dedicated to Dick Langworthy (718's Falklands pilot) that is/was fitted to the rear of the centre console. :-)

Wikipedia…Zebras are not native to Nigeria or West Africa, but they can be found in zoos and wildlife parks in the country. For example, Omu Resort in Lagos has zebras in its zoo, and the resort's general manager says the zebras are part of an effort to promote conservation and captive breeding.

I've wrestled the Tamiya A-10 & sea Harrier... also the old airfix Buccaneer (all in 1:48). All quite horrible, with the Bucc taking over 2yrs. They are all sitting in the cabinet, with the Bucc looking rather tasty indeed. Not that I'm choosing to fight any future kits though!

Hi Phil! Well displayed presentation, once more. I think that on the "heat" of a new scooter you forgot to show us the decals. How are them? And is there any prepainted PE? What about the instrument panels? On sprues we saw 2 different options, one with raised details and another one plain. Thanks though. Keep up the good job!

I've tormented friends with daily stories when converting my 1/48 ID Models EC-121 Warning Star into a C-69 Constellation. 🤪 My 1/48 FM Halifax mk.2 conversion was easy in comparison. No more vac forms for me. Adding resin and photo etch upgrades is my limit. 😓

Now, do the same for curved surfaces inner and outer, difficult corners where you are trying to get a panel to fit, or spherical objects. Sorry mate, thanks and all for the first impressions but this isnt a very good all round test to see the difference in what the tool can do. I can easily cut through a metal bar or billet with a hacksaw. Lot of effort back and forth, but with a grinder and cutting disck or a bandsaw, its more efficient and easier. Same with this tool. Stop moving your hand back and forth to do the work, let the tool do that for you. what you are doing is the same as trying to cut through a bar of metal and moving the metal not the hacksaw in my opinion.

Worst kit to date : the AMP Sikorsky HO3S in 1/48. For me, this kit is unbuildable. The sprue tree diagram does not match the actual sprues, the instructions appear to be for a mix of different versions, but not for the actual parts in the box.

OK, now I feel old and depressed! 😉😆😂 As a mojo finder, I'm tooling around with a Tamiya 1/48 Skyraider and a Eduard 1/48 MiG-21 PFM at the moment, a bit here and there.... Ineed something strong....🤨🤔....I think coffee will do! 😉😆😂 Greetings from a Swede up in Glasgow....
