Tanti anni fa, lessi un'intervista dove la Maestra Devia, che ho l'onore di conoscere personalmente, dichiarava la Sua perplessità ad affrontare il ruolo di Norma. . .forse, lo penso io, per i precedenti illustri che noi Tutti (Melomani) ben conoscono e apprezzano. Poi debuttò, trionfando come Suo solito! E per fortuna visto che, secondo me, è diventata la "Norma di riferimento" dei nostri tempi. Complimenti, incondizionata stima, immenso affetto e gratitudine per le emozioni che ci ha trasmesso con la Sua incomparabile arte!

Nice Pianissimo! Well, proportioned physic, he probably works out or limits food intake. I know he loves to swim - in the sea. However, during this scene doesn't his feet get dirty. Stage floor looks uncomfortable. Probably showers afterwards but he must return to ACT 3 in RIGOLETTO.

Great duo between Romanovsky and Florez. Florez has those unmistakable resounding Rossini Hugh Notes that made him an instant Superstar! Love Romanocsky as well! What a tremendous voice! Bravi a tutti e due! Rossini was so wrong (speaking of his own music) that IL BARBIERE DI SIVIGLIA was the only true worthy operaa of note he ever wrote. I adore every one of his 36 operas whether COMIC works or DRAMATIC works.

Thank You Edita, for your wondrous voice and work in opera, especially in "bel canto", so radiant in everything you sang yet surpassing everything with all your Bel Canto roles, least of which is your Donizetti Tudor Trilogy of Anna Bolena, Maria Stuarda and Elisabetta I in Roberto Devereux. Very few can equal what you did in your career and in particular with Elisabetta I In Devereux. You will always be remembered; thank you again for your unbelievable opera career and a voice like a larion trumpet. I have so many of your recordings of very famous operas and lesser known works. What they have in common is your committment to superlative singing and dedication to your art. May you rest in peace, dear Miss Gruberova. I wish I had posted this earlier aknowledging your formidable talent!

Beautiful singing. If only we could have heard the aria without the clapping seals in the middle of it. Atmosphere totally destroyed by people clearly not absorbed by the music.

A good performance, but for my taste a little too sentimental. In my opinion, it doesn't come close to the rendition of Bidu Sayao here on you tube probably recorded in the 1940s. However, at the end of the day, it comes down to personal taste.
