How did your guest decide that the darker people are living in squaller in SA whilst the lighter are in Sandton ? Are you aware that most SAns are generally light skin but we do have dark SAns . Most of the darkest people you see in SA may be from other African countries .Many of them are unskilled or illegal immigrants. They will obviously live in squaller because they take low paying jobs . But just to show you how wrong your assessment was . People from Limpopo Province are usually darker than other SA tribes and they are super super smart , wealthy and highly educated. If you go to rural areas in Limpopo you will see the biggest mansions and these are usually their second homes . Julius Malema is from Limpopo . Our president is from Limpopo and he was a billionaire before he became our president. He owned 145 McDonalds restaurants and is also a mining tycoon. If your colorism assertion or statement was true please explain how Cyril Ramaphosa and many many others like him became both so politically and financially influential .

What's the metric for measuring most colonised and least colonised Jay? Southern Africa had settler colonisation. Francophone Africa still pays "taxes" to France, still does not gain from their own minerals, still exports its human resource to France. How do you measure the degree of Colonisation?

The highest colonized metric for me is mindset and whether or not the colonizers are still around and running things. I have never been to Francophone West Africa so I can't speak to that with any authority. The question was about the most colonized that I've experienced in Africa and by far it was South Africa. That doesn't mean that I don't like South Africans or that you are bad people. But it is what it is. If it makes you feel better, lots of people in the Americas are colonized too but the question was geared towards Africa.
@lebo5281
@lebo5281 8 сағат бұрын
Fair on the Francophone issue. You have been to Kenya and Uganda. You may have seen their judges wearing blonde wigs. You may also have seen the first reaction after 7 October events in Israel when the Kenyan president stood on the side of Israel. You may be aware that there was a planned relocation of refugees from the UK to Rwanda, also been aware that Kenyan troops were shipped to Haiti to fight. In the thick of apartheid and sanctions in SA, Kenya remained a friend a trading partners to Apartheid SA. East Africa churns out the most real refugees that are present in SA & the middle East, Ethiopia being the largest contributor. Ask them why they still use King Henry VII's Shilling...Why they sent farm workers to Israel amidst a genocide. Why they insist on a dress code for parliamentarians. Ask Nigeria why they have schools that teach British accent in Nigeria. Why the Francs get printed in France and a portion of their value withheld by the "printers". On the flipside: it is South Africa that took Israel to court, it is South Africa that took in then Haitian President Jean-Bertrand Aristide and gave him refuge for 7 years, it is South Africa that saved the Timbuktu manuscript and made sure the library in Mali is built, it is also South Africa that is resolving many wars in Africa, and it is also South Africa that contributes the most to the African Union. There are a lot of questions you can ask, and in your enquiries, you will discover just how many of these "real" African countries have no autonomy, therefore, not yet free from their former colonisers. Southern Africa had settler colonisation like that which happened in North America, in particular the USA. White people here are either economic migrants, refugees (Jews and Irish), missionaries, sailors(Afrikaners), slave traders, colonists etc and we have long made peace with how they came to be South African. South Africa has not answered to Britain or any outsiders since 1961 so, it is simply untrue to say colonists are in charge. Southern Africa gets a lot of flack for having a multiracial population and for some reason, people fail to see the benefit of that population, despite their immense contribution to our growth and prosperity and liberation struggle. As you travel Africa, especially the underdeveloped countries, ask yourself why that is the case. When you get into these countries that have civil wars and coups, ask. Then examine the relationship between the benefit of "Kin & Kith" politics vs "Rich Africa, poor Africans" & instability...you will perhaps understand Southern African politics and maybe not call us "most colonised", for the sake of it.

BM needs to read rather than accept black activist "history". Africa has caste system, civil wars and genocide. It's not a nation. They have differences such as EU. South Africa may be "stand offish" but other regions are beheading each other. We're too sensitive in America.

Instead of being negative about SA just be honest and say you didn't win there .As much as SA women are super traditional ( even accepting of polygamy ) they have their own luxury homes, luxury apartments , cars etc. They are not looking to be saved by a Western man. Nor are they desperate to emigrate for survival so you have to bring something other than your American accent and visa to attract a good looking woman. You say SA is colonized. Funny because SA has the wealthiest BLACK nation and the highest number of black DOLLAR millionaires in the continent . We are now only at 30 years of freedom. The other African countries have been free for over 60 years. SA also only has 40 million blacks so compare that number with other African countries . We have the fastest growing black middle and elite class in the continent. Hence black South Africans never ever emigrate for survival. There is no single country in the entire world that can claim to have black South African economic migrants ! Why is that ? Why is all of Africa migrating to SA if we are colonized ? I bet you have seen more black men AND women driving the latest luxury and super cars in SA and particularly Joburg than anywhere else in the continent . You can buy any super car in SA because there is market for it. The same goes for luxury clothing and beauty brands. If the others are free why are their people still suffering so much 64 years post freedom ? Why are they emigrating to ''colonizer'' countries in such high numbers ? Should SA be under developed to show that we are African and free? Why can't we be free but still have a modern country that celebrates black excellence and first world amenities ? Decolonize your mind. Your guest says SA women eat McDonalds....yeah just as much as people in LA have all kinds of Junk Food joints but are still the most body conscious community in the USA. Women outnumber men in SA so there's stiff competition to stand out as a woman. To make things worse , there is no shortage of all kinds of beauties in all shades of black .So image is important here .There are high tech local and international gym brands everywhere ! you find them even within elite residential estates , apartment buildings and corporate buildings. We have multiple gyms even in working class communities. No country in Africa can claim to have as many gyms , nutritionist businesses , luxury health spas and exclusive beauty brands as SA . Many luxury black beauty brands either first launch in SA or they only launch in SA .SA is probably one of a few countries in Africa where people have become millionaires just by doing personal training. Middle class AA love SA and are emigrating here in high numbers because as much as they may also be looking for traditional women , they also love a woman who take care of themself financially.

Thanks for schooling these people brother I often tell them SA has the highest black middle class outside the United States I often wonder why people expect SA to be this utopia where black people own everything so they often frown upon the fact that we work and live with white people despite our painful past we have made a way to thrive far better than most African countries who have been free for aeons but have little to show for it

Does South Africa have higher murder rates than most other African nations? Also is there racial discrimination there amongst blacks? Didn’t segregation just end there recently? Is 🌈 activities legal? Do they not have 🌈 parades?
@JayFocused
@JayFocused Күн бұрын
@Makemoneythroughreferals-jf1ws "African countries free for eons"? Let's turn down that hyperbole a few notches. Ghana was the first post-colonial African country. They haven't even been post-colonial for a century, hardly eons. This is not about pitting one African country against another, that's counterproductive and frankly boring. The guest simply shared his opinion, SA was not for him. America also wasn't for him. I'm not offended whatsoever when a foreigner visits America and says it wasn't what they were expecting or point out things that could be improved there, perhaps I would've been when I was younger and less learned. Often I agree with their observations.

@@TravelingTony1 Oh so you decided to shift the goal posts because i took you on with your other lies. Okay let me address your concerns : 1. Do you know that other African states don't even collate criminal statistics ? Tell me how a country where bandits have pulled up to schools and kidnapped 200 little girls at a time will claim to have less murder rates than SA ? Please make it make sense. Countries where people are assassinated for political or tribal reasons daily can't have less murder rates than SA . But lets look at SA . Do you know that it was reported i our official crime stats that 60% of the suspects arrested for violent crime in Gauteng are illegal foreigners ? Do you know that the most dangerous crime spots in Gauteng are predominantly populated by mostly illegal immigrants. They have run SAns out of these areas. Which is why the last elections saw a number of new political parties that demand tighter immigration laws and the deportation of illegal immigrants. 2. You ask if there's racial discrimination amongst blacks ? You even said we don't love each other .Okay just factually and practically does that make sense to you ? Or do you mean tribalism ? If so we are probably the only freed African state that is multitribal but hasn't had any tribal war . We are also the most tribally mixed group on the continent because we intermarry . During apartheid they tried to separate us by allocating us to townships according to our tribes. The result was young boys and girls Criss crossing the tribal boundaries to date on the others side ,lol. Hence most of us are of several tribal DNA. Eventually all the townships were mixed and the divide and conquer project failed dismally. Politically we are also probably the only multi tribal country where every single political party has every single tribe and everyone has a fair chance of leadership. Brother we intermarry and cross procreate so does that sound like we hate each other ? LOL . 3.. Yes segregation ended 30 years ago . Other African states got their independence over 60 or even 65 years ago . In our humble 30 years we have emerged as the most successful black nation on the continent. We actually achieved this within 10 years of freedom and we proudly called these new black elites ,the Black Diamonds . Blacks were given an inferior education during apartheid with only R42 spent on the black child and over R600 on a white child but we have turned that around. We are now the second most literate country in Africa. We have many other achievements to celebrate since our freedom. Thank you for noting how recent it is . 4. Yes LGBTIQI is legal . Proudly so because we are a constitutional democracy that respects and upholds the rights of every human being regardless of race , color or creed . Just in general countries that criminalize homosexuality also tend to have other repressive laws including the restriction of civil rights like freedom of speech , children's rights and women's rights. If you like that kind of bigotry masked as traditional culture then go ahead and find that . But also remember that you as a man will also not have the liberties you are used to legally and you may one day have to allow forced marriage of your daughter. To each his own I guess . Also if your child is born with albinism or a disability expect that they will not be given the same right to equality as other people. So it never really ends with oppression of the LGBTQI community . Also expect deeply entrenched tribalism in those countries because they tend to have just a general disregard for basic human rights. 5. Gay Parades ? Yes we have those once a year in every city. They are called Pride parades and everyone regardless of gender or sexual orientation is welcome to join the colorful festivities if they so wish.

Each person has their personal experience in each place. Truth be told everywhere in the planet there is racism and sexism, but expressed in different forms. Do you know what is the reason to not have many blacks or mixed race folks in Argentina? Because they were exterminated by them. Yes, burned, k1lled all together after Paraguay's war by the Argentinians themselves. That is just a historical fact. So to say that Brazil as a country is far more racist than Argentina might not be that accurate. I am very sorry that you had an awful experience in Brazil. As you said, it is an unique country so... imagine that you could have had also the best experience someone can have there too, as many people do. It is crazy indeed. But do not shut yourself to experience it again in future, in other regions , cities and states after a while, as you may experience sth that will blow your mind in a good way and change the way you see things forever. As someone who wanted to understand my own mother land I can say it is so heterogenic that it can take a whole life time to start to grasp it. Racism is an issue in Brazil for sure , but things are getting better in a speed of light. I had 2 completly different experiences in the public university in a period of less than 10 years. There are many 'Brazils' , we are as huge in extension as the USA and have many different realities co-existing, many more than you guys. It is a culture of many layers for sure. Africa is going to be crazy too, maybe you will understand Brazil a bit more after that.

Forgot to say that brazilians do over criticism of themselves as people and country and there is a bit of a winning/complaining culture of not seeing what is good and what is bad clearly.. This self criticism is sooo exagerated that people cannot take a tiny thing coming from the outside. Because there is already too much. It surely needs some balance, on the self-criticism first to secondly be able to listen to the critique coming from outside. They think poorly on themselves thats why they get sensitive. I hope this changes too and it is, slowly... The other thing is we do not know about our heroes, genius and country developments and inventions like other nationalities do, this we do not learn in school...we do very little, reduced ...like all other nations know about their own country thats why there is this insecurity of not knowing our roots so they have to 'defend' their pride by negating the criticism of outsiders. That is exactly what happens with Black folks world wide too... they were negated their own history and knowledgeof their roots on África. Who they relatives were, their heroes... .
