Wayne, you are a lucky man. I live in a big city and I only have bricks and asphalt. My country house is located 300 km from home, I travel on weekends, and there is very little time left for photography. I spend more time digging into the ground. And the landscapes are exactly the same. There is the same lonely house and the same gate. But from your story I understand that it is difficult for you to drive and look at the terrain at the same time. Eduard.

Hi Wayne. Very interesting video. I've just sent off my xt5 and lenses for trade in after buying a very discounted z7ii and 24-120mm. I've definitely been bitten by the nikon bug but I'm wondering if I should stick to the z7ii and get a zf to use alongside (and scratch the retro itch) with its excellent low light capabilities or just go all in on a z8. I also do landscape and wildlife. My first lens will be the 180-600 followed by the 14-30 f4. Thanks again.

Hi Craig, thanks for watching. The Z 24-120mm is a great lens and the Z7 II is a great camera for landscapes. I don't have a lot of experience with the Z7 II for wildlife but I suspect it's absolutely fine for static/slower moving wildlife and generally wildlife which is "easier" to photograph. A Z8 would clearly have better AF for wildlife but it really depends on your needs. I can't comment on the ZF as I haven't used one. Good luck.

The testing was done using an XT-3. I would think that results should be similar using XH-1. I was looking specifically for a video showcasing the 150-600mm with the XT-3 or XH-1, and I highly recommend that you should put the camera used in the video description. After having viewed this video, I am extremely interested in this lens as a future purchase, for use with my XH-1. Thank You for producing such a good and informative video presentation.

I'm sorry that you went through this, but since you have decided to leave Fuji, you should have talked about the problems specifically because others might be having them and potential customers can know what to look out for. Sometimes, you should use your platform to make a change in the way a business does business and let Fuji know that you aren't happy through a video, by getting tons of views from it and letting Fuji know, can but not always make a change. You did the right thing at first, going to Fuji before discussing it. You have given them the opportunity, and if enough people see this and are having issues, they will lobby Fuji for a change. Businesses have customers and angry customers going viral, causes changes. I wish you well with your next camera purchase and I hope that you don't have problems. Good luck.

Since more than three years I am trying to make good bird photos with my X-T3 and my 100-400mm, but unfortunately I don't succeed. I tried everything: fast shutter speed, low ISO, stepping down the aperture, having a stable position. But the majority of my photos have bad image quality. Very mushy, not sharp and crisp at all. Is it 'dirty' air, is it the bad autofocus of the X-T3, is it too much zooming in, or - that is my question - is my 100-400 a bad sample? I really tend to this explanation. (I had another sample of the this lens and it was the same). I hope you can tell me: No, you just have to do this and that and then everything will be fine.
@WayneRobertsonPhotography
@WayneRobertsonPhotography 3 ай бұрын
I'm afraid I can't provide a simple answer which will fix your issues. The X-T3 is not nearly as capable as other cameras for birds in flight. However it can take good photos in that situation and it is capable for stationary birds. The 100-400mm lens that I had was suitable for the aforementioned situations. I would take some simple test shots at home (not of wildlife) to verify if your lens is performing as you'd expect. If you are not getting good quality photos in a simple situation like that then I'd try contacting Fuji for help.

Are you satisfied with Z8 at 14bit 45.7mp versus gfx at 16bit and 102mp for dynamic range, colour rendering and image quality?
@WayneRobertsonPhotography
@WayneRobertsonPhotography 3 ай бұрын
I didn’t have a 102MP GFX so I can’t compare to that camera. I imagine 99% of photographers would be happy with the Z8 and some quality lenses is the best thought that I can offer.
@mrz1342
@mrz1342 3 ай бұрын
Hi, The low res. Viewfinder and screen are enough to show taken photograph? The image quality is good enough at 14bit 45.7mp for large print to see details? I owned Sony a1 but didn’t like colours, and my GFX100S is not versatile specially with bulky lenses. I love image quality by my Gfx at 16bit and 102mp but unfortunately it’s good for studio and landscape only and not for all types of photography! The only thing that I’m afraid if I switch to Z8 is image quality since I’m pixel peeping person. Please let me know your opinion. Thank you

I just got mine in a couple weeks ago and it just seems so.... soft. That's even at a shutter speed of 2,000. Do bad copies of these go around, should I exchange it or is it my technique somehow? I have no idea how you shot a shutter speed of 160 at 600mm!
@WayneRobertsonPhotography
@WayneRobertsonPhotography 4 ай бұрын
In theory there could be bad copies of any lens, this lens should definitely be sharp. I’d do some careful tests by taking pictures of something stationary using a tripod. That should produce sharp images so will help you determine the issue.

@@WayneRobertsonPhotography maybe I’m expecting too much from this lens? Do I need to be pretty close to these birds for really sharp photographs of them?
@WayneRobertsonPhotography
@WayneRobertsonPhotography 4 ай бұрын
@jimk8353 the larger the subject is in your frame the more detail you will see however if conditions are suitable a scene or subject can be far away and still be sharp. I personally try to maintain some reasonable distance from wildlife to avoid bothering what I’m photographing. If any other lenses you may have are fine then you may want to get this one checked.

I also recently purchased the Nikon Z8 to basically upgrade from my Nikon D3S. I already have the F2.8 24-70 and F2.8 70-200 lenses and the 2X teleconverter, which gives me a range from 24-400mm. In order to use these two lenses, I purchased the F - Z adapter and have had great results so far. The 2X added to the 70-200 retains excellent sharpness. However, I have decided to expand and ordered the 180-600mm lens and the 1.4X adapter to push it out to 840mm. The adapter came today, but the 180-600mm lens is on back order with B&H Camera. So, I simply hope that the order gets filled soon! Hoping to have a fun summer with great photos of wildlife.

Was there any reason you didn't stick with the 24-200? I'm looking at getting one and although it might be a slight soft in the corners at some focal lengths I think that's something I can live with. I think it would be nice if Nikon released a 70-300 as a lighter option to the 100-400, I know Tamron has one but the field curvature issues and lack of VR would be a deal breaker for me.
@WayneRobertsonPhotography
@WayneRobertsonPhotography 4 ай бұрын
Hi, that's a good question. The 24-200mm lens is a fantastic versatile lens and it offers great value. I could definitely take great images with it and make great prints. I personally felt the lenses I discuss in this video are better for my needs and I accepted I would carry both or one of them depending on my needs, how far I have to hike etc. etc. I did also notice the softness at certain focal lengths in the 24-200mm that you mentioned so while not deal breaking I do get better results with the S lenses. It's very much a personal thing depending on your requirements; people will have different opinions and preferences.
@jaspercaelan4998
@jaspercaelan4998 4 ай бұрын
@@WayneRobertsonPhotography Yeah definitely personal preferences although the S lenses are a bit better. I use the mid to mild telephoto range a lot which means I switch lenses a lot with my current setup which is annoying or impossible if the weather is bad. I also usually crop to 4:5, 4:3 or 19:9 so any corner softness is less of an issue.
