I’ve know Grandmasters Goacobbie since were were kids playing in a band together. And I trained under his Master Shin and other Masters from Korea. He is a dedicated Master who has done wonders for many students! Master Clark

Back in my day there was no instruction during a test and by the time you’re a red belt you should be able to break 3 to 4 boards ! Students today are watered down and soft!!!

True. Even depending on the age and weight class, I've heard that some previous students would break cinder blocks at Cho Dan Bo level

They have championships for bouncing and flinching? You don't need "black belts" for this. Just a mosquito plagued trampoline.

No coordination. No speed. Absolutely nothing to do with self-defense. Other than an exersise and a hobby, it's a dangerous waste of time giving false hope of surviving when assaulted by an attacker with intent.

When I was a young child I remember getting the postcards in the mail from Master DA Giacobbe’s cancer fundraiser event. I was probably 10. I called the number and spoke with him on the phone. I am a lifelong resident of Appalachia . Looking back I find it kind of funny, but he spoke to me with so much respect and said if you are ever up in the northeast stop by and train. 31 years later it is good to see this.

These 1st degree black belts testing (especially the adults) are a true embarrassment to Tang Soo Do. Forms are a joke: no enthusiasm , week stances, lack of attention to detail, no power, not focusing where the techniques are supposed go, getting distracted, sloppy kicks, and walking through the motions with little care in the word. I would fail 90% of the 2nd degree candidates with no problem.

Don't judge an entire art with millions of practitioners worldwide based on one group of black belts. This is just one organization. There are others that have much higher grading standards. You'll find testing videos of various arts (including shotokan) with horrid testing performances. Sadly, this was one of those of the more embarrassing ones.

This is wack as fuck. None of this crap is applicable. If anything you're giving these people a false sense of security that they can fight. You're going to get someone hurt or killed teaching this bullshit.
