This absolutely slaps. I remember going to similar (although loop pedal assisted) concerts awhile back, when I lived in Moscow. I always bopped and sometimes joined in with a darbuka or rav vast drum when the performer was cool with that. Radical! :D

Wow such a cool video! I don’t really know a whole lot about didgeridoo but I played the tuba for years at a high level, your breath control, multiphonics, and tone are great, and best I’ve heard from any didgeridoo videos. (Of course your ability to multitask with the percussion instruments is done superbly well too!)

I read your message with pleasure :) thank you. Did you stop playing tuba? It's also such a cool instrument and it's possible to play Didgeridoo technique with it!

@@dojorich unfortunately life became too busy and forced a career change, but it still lies in my heart. I definitely see similarities, in technique :) I imagine you use circular breathing to maintain the music like you do? (That’s something I’d tried and never been able to pull off with the tuba since it uses so much air in the lower register)

Wow. Nice. Ever thought about adding HiHats?
@dojorich
@dojorich 2 күн бұрын
Thanks! Yes, often. But not sure yet. I love playing with fingers. For a HiHat I'd need sticks and then I can't play on my Cajon same time or only with one hand, which would restrict many of my techniques. But I'm still thinking about it...

Dope as all hell, one thing I do want to point out is "no computers" but you're using electronic triggers for all of your percussion. No hate, I'm sure that's a big part of this being doable, just, false
@dojorich
@dojorich 3 күн бұрын
Thanks for pointing out the dopeness :) About using triggers: No, that's false. I don't do that. I don't know how you get this idea. I use microfones into a digital mixing console which has a gate for the kick, compressor, a bit of reverb and of course an equaliser. But no triggers. Triggers are used to trigger a midi sound or a sound sample. All my sounds are acoustic, live and amplified trough a digital mixing console.
@howabouthardno4834
@howabouthardno4834 3 күн бұрын
@@dojorichI can see for the kick but with the hihat and snare specifically, they sound like midi. What are you hitting to make those sounds? If you have a video with a breakdown of your setup I'd love seeing it
@dojorich
@dojorich 3 күн бұрын
I will make that video for you soon with pleasure. The snare: I hit the cajon. This cajon has a snare like sound. The sound is recorded with a condenser mic in front (dpa 4099). The HiHats are small cymbals on the side of the cajon. I record them with tiny mics glued at the side of the cajon (dpa 4061). The cymbals are called "cajon add ons". They are sticking to the side of the cajon. The material is metal. I think there are some seconds in the video where you could see it. I'll search for it...

@dojorich
@dojorich 6 күн бұрын
Hey! I'm selling the two left side Didgeridoos from the video. They are a good option to start but they are not cheap. They are woodslides, so you can tune them and play in different keys. Size doesn't really matter (as usual) but the inner shape, the material and the quality of everything. If you want to go for a fully wooden Didgeridoo though, I recommend you taking a "Moytze" by Dubravko Lapaine (@DuendeDidgeridoo). It's a very good allrounder Didgeridoo.

like just show up in a European town centre and do this and you'll never have to worry about feeding yourself again, lol.
@dojorich
@dojorich 12 күн бұрын
I wish it would be so easy, but most European town centers which I know have very strict regulations, like no percussion allowed or no amplifiers allowed. I found some cities though where I tried it and ended up with ~20€ for one hour playing. I needed 10€ petrol to get there and 5€ for parking, so I'm left with 5€ for working an afternoon. Building up my set is quite hard, if I would play only guitar, that would be more easy. But for the set as you see it, I'd need two friends who help me carrying it to the street and I'd need one to two hours to get it set. Besides that I want to play music to get people dancing into trance. The street doesn't have that atmosphere where you let go of your thoughts and start dancing for one or two hours. I play in contact with dancers and without them it's much harder and less fun 😊

@@dojorich 😀I've seen a lot of other videos. I really like the combination of the swell of sound and rhythm in oneman's live performances. And the outdoor ones have a more natural vibration. On the other hand, the indoor ones have a stronger impact on the heart. I like them all. The collaborations with harp, violin, and voice are more concrete and moving. I think Dojo Rich's performances suit me very well because there are no unpleasant elements in the sound. Another one I particularly like is "Techno With Two Didgeridoos." I think it's very well-made. And "Organic Trance Live Set for Fire Jugglers in Cologne" is also very good with a powerful performance. I will continue to comment on your wonderful performances, so please look forward to it. I wish you continued success and good health.🥰
